I think the Wikipedia Encyclopaedia (not sure about the zillion Wiki off-shoots) is a really cool project.

It might not be the most reliable reference tool, but as an on-line read, it has huge interest because it is user-contributed and therefore human-interest-driven.

[As one of its detractors pointed out, for a time, the article on Coronation Street was longer than that on Tony Blair -- It has since been rectified]

But what people who look down on Wikipedia don't know, is that the great Library of Alexandria was really the first Wiki:

By decree of Ptolemy III of Egypt, all visitors to the city were required to surrender all books and scrolls in their possession; these writings were then swiftly copied by official scribes. The originals were put into the Library, and the copies were delivered to the previous owners.
What's that if not an open content information system?

Anyway, I fix typos and am active in the discussions. Am yet to contribute a real article, but have started a few "stubs."

That sounds more like a newsgroup than a wiki. And yes, I edit Wikipedia.

I edit it when I see something that is misspelled or factually wrong. I also fix the rare cases of vandalism I come across.

I edited it once... it was some really minute detail. I think they forgot to capitalize something... I don't remember exactly.

They always change my edits back to the original for some reason.

I edit when I find that I have something worth adding, or I find a spelling mistake/other problems.

I sometimes look for things I think I know and see if there's anything I can add.

So yeah, I edit, both the main one and the Finnish language one.

Interesting article.

And this is incredible >

Senators and congressmen have been caught tampering with their entries; the entire House of Representatives has been banned from Wikipedia several times.
