This is week 20 of my wife's first pregnancy. She gets an ultrasound in a few hours. I want a girl, everyone else wants a boy. Wish me luck.

Tell your wife to sleep a lot, since she is going to be the prime caregiver. Also, spoil her silly.

I also wanted a girl. We got a boy and we are so happy. Boys are great! But at the end it doesnt matter, he/she will love you and you will love him/her!

Cork her.

Get a cork -- or anything you can dangle from a thread. Attach it to a string about 2 feet long, and hold it over your wife's belly. HOLD IT STILL AND WAIT.

In seconds, it will begin to move in a circle or a line. Circle = girl, line = boy.

This works every time. 100% accurate.

Is there a scientific basis for that?

I can't find any, no. I need to get the Mythbusters to figure it out.

BUT, it DOES work -- with all species. It's well known in birding as it's an easy way to sex babies and eggs.

That's exactly what I was waiting to say!

It could be their longest experiment ever. (They could take a 'reading' each month)

My friend and co-worker is due sometime in October. Her and her husband decided to let it be a surprise. Especially since it's going to be around her birthday.
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

Try it! Get with your family and friends and give it a go. Just do it over their heads, fairly close.

Rather presumptive, isn't it? Women are not always the prime caregivers of children in modern society. Though I do agree about the spoiling part; the pregnancy will be over before you know it!

Really he did not say that he was getting a divorce after the baby is born; so it is pretty safe to say that she will breastfeed, that she will be the one who has to get up to do it. And at one point he will go back to work and she will be alone.

That's pretty presumptuous of you. I don't know about where you live, but some places actually have *gasp* stay at home dad's.

So home dads can breast feed during the first few months of life.

Yup, the wife takes care of that with a breast pump and bottles it; cause the fact is it is the breast milk you are going after, not the actual process of getting it.

You didn't know that with enough stimulation, a man can lactate?

Yes it is, in most couples, except when the mother is a drug addict or a drunk or totally unfit, it is going to be her that will feeed the baby, change it, bath it, dads can help her by doing the housework. We are talking about a couple, each can help the other. I am still talking about the fact that within the first few months the mother is the prime caretaker of a baby.

I find offering Jobu some cigars or rum and killing a few chickens in the room works just as well.

Actually I believe some study found that the process is fairly beneficial too.

Pedro Cerrano: Jesus, I like him very much, but he no help with curveball.
Eddie Harris: You trying to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?

I've heard of corking, haven't tried to though.

How was the baby conceived? Which position?

...and do you have pics? (j/k)

Not that I've seen. Most guys I know share their baby about 50/50.

Monique, I'll never understand your negativity. I am a stay-at-home dad with a perfectly normal marriage. There are people that do it...and probably lurk on this board, too! Please, everyone, let's not derail this wonderful thread about a new life on the way!
