(Past the VPC part.)

Hmm. I wonder how this will affect Apple's ability to penetrate the corporate market. No VB Scripting in Office for Mac. They are, however, integrating support for AppleScript and Automater. So that'll be interesting.

I'm guessing someone will release an AppleScript/Visual Basic Automater. Or not.

I think Microsoft just isn't too happy with Apple at the moment.

Who cares about VB in Office on the Mac? I am not sure that I have ever encountered a case where a Mac user has used it, and certainly AppleScript support would be a HUGE time-saver.

Mac users don't care, but pointy-haired bosses will.

*raises hand*

I'm using the same macros at home that I created at work (on a PC).
So if there is no translation or anything, I'd be upset.

I wish macros were gone years ago. I've never seen anyone use them, and macro viruses are a pain in the ass to deal with, even on a mac.

The only place I've ever used them is in Excel. But 99% of it could managed with Excel's own formula stuff.

Err, well I use them a lot in Word and Excel. Just because you don't use them mate...

I am very concerned that we will end up with a dumbed-down version of Excel.

If they kill VPC on the Mac, why don't offer it free like the PC counterpart ?

*sigh*

Talk to someone who works in Finance, and they will tell you different.

The last time I've seen a Excel or Word Macro virud was in 1997 or so.
If you ask me, they are extinct. I work with Excel and Word on a daily basis, and share a lot of files. It's not an issue anymore.

That's not true.

Formulas and macros are two completely different things. You can not substitute them at all. You guys obviously don't go beyond shopping lists or a simple budget calculations.

Anyone know if OpenOffice/NeoOffice supports VB-based macros?
