I helped build some buildings down in Mexico one summer. Definitely not 'up to code' by US standards.

At the time I posted the TV news person said there was breaking news of a quake near Mexico City and eyewitness reports said that buildings were seen swaying.

That was the same thing that was said in the first minutes after the SF Quake. I posted without waiting for further info.
