over the last 3 months I have been getting more and more Canadian quarters in my US$10 rolls. So far $2.75. isn't there a filter person who makes sure that all quarters going into rolls are us quarters? anyways, just wanted to get it out there to make sure to check your coin rolls to make sure it's all your countries currency

You know that if you use a coin or two of Canadian money in the US, they usually honor it at full US face value.
Big deal.

I asked for change for a $10 at Safeway and they gave me $10 in Canadian. I was very unhappy.

brassplayersrock, where are you? I grew up near Detroit, and most of the time about a third of my pocket change was Canadian. No big deal. Particularly since they are (except the Looney, which is its own case) physically interchangable with U.S. coins-and work fine in vending machines.
I spent two years in Panama, from '87 to '89. They had NO paper currency of their own-it was all U.S. dollars. But their coins are distinctive-and except for the writing and pictures, identical to U.S. coins. Again, no big deal.
Now getting $10Canadian in change in Colorado is another matter. Technically that's only about $8.88US-and if the cashier knew that's what was happening, it sounds like a visit to the store's management is in order. If you paid in US currency in a US store in Colorado, you should get that much change in US currency.

Hmmm... CAD$2.75 is about US$2.45
If you really want, I'll PayPal you the extra US$0.30 you're still owed.

Coins are treated at face value (except loonies and toonies) and you shouldn't worry about it. Side note almost every time I get change 7 out of 10 times, It will have a US coin in it.

Heh. I would've sent you the cash had the email been real.
P.S. I was wrong. It's not $0.30 you're owed. According to the latest exchange rate, you're owed $0.31.

Unless you travel to Canada and buy hundreds of dollars worth just to rip the Coke machines off, then its immoral

True, Athens. Situational ethics is a slippery subject. It would be worse if you ripped off the Coke machines and then resold the ilicit proceeds for a profit, too.

hummmm I think your on to something, A Coke machine can hold about 500 cans of pop, so if you bought 250 bucks of Canadian money (assuming your walmart coke machines sell for 50 cents) emptied the machine, resold the Cokes for 70 cents that leaves you with a profit of (500x 20 cents Pakistan) plus saving 45 bucks getting Canadian money, $145 per pop machine. Hit 5 machines a day, your making $725.00 a day.
(waits to see on the news a rash of Canadian money in empty pop machines)

Usually my Canadian coins don't work in US vending machines actually. Similarly, US coins often don't work in Canadian vending machines.
And why wouldn't you just buy the pop at the grocery store for much cheaper, and then sell it on the street for a buck like a hot dog vendor?

In most vending machines coke is $1 in the US and $1 in Canada.
Use canadian quarters to buy a coke in the US and you are saving money.

This thread should be about getting rid of the penny. One penny costs 1 and one half cent to make. And is basically ending up in jars everywhere.

Nah, it's not that much, unless you get the super duper extra large size. I can never finish even their small size anyways, so I just buy a drink outside for CAD$1 and bring it in.
