This kills me. I had this idea for an ongoing project during my senior year of college. While it's not exactly what I envisioned, it's close enough.

Neat, you could tell the change in seasons and everything just by watching.

I saw the blond wig too.

How did she get her face in the same spot every day for three years? Plus, how did she edit this? Frame by frame? Ouch!

I'd love to try this.

Someone posted one of a family before on this forum... where they all got together for a Pic once a year.. and they did it for like 20 years or something. I think it actually started out with just the husband and wife... and ended up with two grown kids.

I actually would love to find that again....

Exact same expression in every frame, no happy or sad face. That's tough.

Yeah, she did that so her expression wouldn't change much. It'd be harder to match everything up. I emailed her a while ago, she hasn't responded yet... I wanted to knw if she did it frame by frame or used trick software....

I think you are talking about this Family Timeline. I posted it here back in 2004. Looks like they updated too.

A guy did this a while back and was featured in the New York Times magazine section. Nifty, but not original.

Cool.

Has anyone seen Baraka? > Baraka (1992)

Some of the most incredible time-lapse cinematography I have seen (wheeling stars, days and nights flash by in a blur, human transit like flowing water... )

It's not a video, but it's something like what you mentioned. I doubt the time line myself, though:

three years and she didn't change one bit. kind of sad. it'd be more interesting if it was three years from 15-18 years old.

Heh, yea she didnt change much.. except her hair got much shorter--thats the real tragedy.

As far as editing the thing, she could have done it frame by frame; it would be one frame a day, as they become available. It would take like 5 mins each day, tops. Other than that, she could have just named each pic like, 000, 001, 002... lop them all in the same folder, and have QT pro or some other app compile all of them together.

And that other link to the chick who went on a diet... holy crap... that is AMAZING.

A friend of mine is doing this since about 6 or 7 years, 3 years of that he also took a picture of the photographer (he should have about 30 pictures of me that way)!

It's an art project of him and will someday be in an exhibition....hopefully!

I agree. Her face matured quite a bit. Maybe I notice because I'm living in Asia and am more tuned in to the differences.

I thought it was remarkable how similar her face looked throughout the process. She didn't gain or lose weight so that it showed, and keeping the same, impassive expression seems to have masked the few signs of aging that three years will place on a 20-something person.

Of course the blone wig was a bit of a shock, but I noticed the hair much more than I did the glasses. In fact, I thought her hair styles were the most changable thing about her appearance.

I had the idea to do this with my son when he was born..I had worked out the math of a sliding scale of images to take, based on his development (that is, a picture 2x a day for the first few weeks, then once a day for 2 months, etc).

Needless to say the reality of having a child and doing something as obsessively exacting to make it work don't mesh very well I do have a number of shots that will work well for morphing passes, which has the same general effect.

I agree that while an interesting experiment, 3 years time-lapse for a mature adult isn't very compelling.

Huh? I didn't find it very interesting, as far as time-lapses go. What difference does it being free or being on the internet make?

Here's a similar project:

Guy takes pic of himself every 12 years for 24 years

One picture every 12 years since 1982. A film in progress by Brave Dave. Check back in 2018 for the next update.

So I watched the film "Revelation" the other night, and as usual browsed the actors on the IMDb afterwards.

Whilst browsing Udo Kier, I saw this:

He (Udo) continues to work often with Lars von Trier and is the godfather of Van Trier's child as well as a good friend. Von Trier is currently working on a film entitled Dimension which is a project that spans 30 years. Every year the cast and crew (including Udo) meet to shoot footage. The film will show the actors age 30 years without make-up or special effects. Approximately seen years of footage has already been shot. The premiere will take place in 2024!

She changes quite a bit. Her face used to be a lot rounder and chunkier.... click some of the last frames vs some of the first few.

I agree... it's weird that no one's seeing it... or is it?

Outgroup homogeneity bias

A cognitive bias in which individuals see members of their own group as being relatively more varied than members of other groups.

I don't think it's as much outgroup homogeneity bias as the fact that the pictures are daily. The transitions are so subtle from one day to the next that she seems not to change-particularly when her glasses and hair DO change noticably in almost every frame. Distraction is a simpler hypothesis than outgroup homogeneity bias.
