A friend has a Windows Mobile phone, and he likes it a lot. He's a gadget geek to the extreme, though so that may say something about it.

Windows Mobile phones are great for corporate customers since they effortlessly connect to Exchange and can open Office documents.

It looks very high tech, almost as if it were made by a high tech company.

I think it looks pretty nice. But what kind of port was that in the last picture? It looked like a FW port, but with only one diagonal border on the side.

proprietary USB=meh.

however, I hafta say that i DO love my WM5 phone. Of all the Windows flavored products its really the most tolerable OS since by necessity its free of a lot of the code bloat that makes the other versions such a pain in the ass. There are also a ton of free apps out there for pretty much any functionality you might need.

And yes, the ability to sync over the air with Exchange servers makes it a must-have simply because of that.

Is it just me or is anyone else thinking "Meh, it's just a phone. It doesn't have boobies or dispense beer or ward off vampyres or anything cool like that" ?

That's where the beer and the not having vampyres around comes in. It's quite difficult to have fun while there's vampyres around, what with their flouncy shirts and fancy talkin' and everything.

I think Windows Mobile is just fine if you like the Windows UI. I tend to like the SymbianOS.

I was simply suggesting that the BlackBerry shown in the comparison shot on that link is the better choice. I agree - the 8700 is the best out there.

Have you seen the blackberry 8100? I had one of these in my hand today and I totally forgot about the 8700 on my hip.

Have you tried the 71xx? I actually much prefer them to the larger ones. They fit in the hand much better and are much more comfortable to use as a phone, and because it's only two letters per key the predictive text is fantastic. Much better for one handed usage than the 8700.

Also, I find using Blackberries with the left hand so you can use your index finger rather than your thumb for the wheel is much more comfortable.
