I bought an HD set a year and a half ago. I've probably watched at most an hour of HD content because of the lack of HD content.

If it's hooked up to a computer, you can download some 1080p HD trailers from apple.com. Otherwise, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are your only options for 1080p. If the TV does proper pulldown on 1080i sources, though, they should look pretty close to a 1080p30 signal.

What about over-the-air HDTV? Is it 1080p?

It's either 720p or 1080i, depending on the network.

well a lot of stations say they are HD BUT they 'up-rez' (force up the resolution) and put an HD tag on it. There are a few shows that are actual HD like the Tonight show, Conan O'Brian, some ABC and CBS shows but most can put the HD tag if the up-rez to 480p which is HD but not the best version. I believe ESPNHD is 720p or 1080p all the time. Remember those programs, sitcoms, drama's shot with film are most likely up-rez to HD most likely 480p

Aside from the Daily Show & Adult Swim, everything I watch is HD.

The OTA broadcast streams are either 720p or 1080i at all times, regardless if the content was created in 720p or 1080i. Sure, they up-convert a lot of the material since most content is not shot in HD yet, but the stations are always sending out a 720p or 1080i broadcast. Well, here they do anyways.
Also, 480p is not HD at all. It is ED.

Pretty much everything on network TV in primetime is in HD now. (That doesn't make it watchable, but that's another story...). Some soap operas and an increasing number of morning shows are in HD, too. It's pretty obvious what's HD and what's not... the HD will be widescreen and the "not" will be pillarboxed 4:3 upconverted from 480i to whatever the channel is in.
ABC, ESPN, and FOX are in 720p.
CBS, NBC, and the WB are in 1080i.
