I'm pissed. I had/have to potential buyers for my Powerbook. But I haven't heard of them anymore. I'm going to cut one of them some slack since he lives in a part of the country that's been flooded by the rain yesterday so that could be his reason. But the other one: meh, screw him.

Rain.... I've heard of this stuff. Water, falling from the sky, right? Yeah, I've heard of that!

It hasn't rained here in Central Texas in far too long, and we're under water restrictions out the proverbial wazoo.

And things are not really going well for us. While we ourselves are fine, we've just contracted with a landscaper to set up a very nice (and LOW water usage) mulch bed around the trees in our front yard, and his mulch supplier (a firm he's worked with for years!) has managed to screw up his order in time and amount-he got only 50% of the mulch he ordered and it was delivered 90 minutes late (which translates to 5° F hotter-100°F versus 95°, or 38°C vs 35°C). He's hot in more ways than one, and has severed what must have been a very lucrative relationship for the supplier. On top of that, our irrigation contractor can't get out here today (to change part of the system because of the new landscaping and fix another part) because another of his clients had some horrendous major failure of his system that was apparently threatening to float his house away...

We're fine, thanks, but our evening ain't what it should be!

Given the two, I'd take our situation over yours, Peter. Getting whacked on the back of the head by a dolt is not nearly as bearable as seeing a decent craftsman get extremely angry at someone for screwing up his project.

I recently became single (Monday), so I am going out on a date tonight. We're going to dance to the beats of Aphrodesia.

That sucks dude. Hope you're OK.

Me: Worked a bit. Watched the Jackie Chan film. Gonna grab a bath then work some more, maybe an all-nighter if inspiration hits.

Was a music producer. Retired from that a couple years back - currently working on a few solo creative projects (album, TV show concept) when the mood takes me. And I seem to have been somehow sucked into politics (though I don't actually want to be)!

I had a 14 hour flight to get to Fort Worth, Texas. This is my first time in the US and I find it interesting - event though i have been awake for 24 hours and we are just getting ready to go out and have some steak

The thing that have impressed me the most, is the amount of pick-up trucks on the road.. I did noth think there would be that many... guess I was wrong

Jens Peter, please understand that not all of America is like Texas.

mine has been okay. went out and got a couple of flooring samples for my closet, and it's been hard to decide. I had to tear up the carpet in the closet today because when i put a black light to it, turns out my deceased kitty decided to leave some reminders of himself AND it was starting to smell. sooo, yeah LOL

OH! and got a new car plate!

Alex

jens peter, also, remember that texans arent anyway like real americans, if you want a good taste of americans, go almost anywhere else besides texas

Actually, you can't judge Texas from what you see around Fort Worth! Texas is as big as a number of countries put together, and is often as diverse. Brassplayersrock is right that you can't get a feel for America and Americans from Texas, but you CAN get a feel for what many of us think of as the more "ruggedly individual" part of America-though most people in boots and cowboy hats are posers and frauds, especially the ones with pickup trucks that have never been off good pavement.

So enjoy the steak (one thing about Texas - you can get fantastic steaks here!) and enjoy the visit.

By the way, Jens, where is Aarhus in relation to Copenhagen? A friend of mine is from "just outside Copenhagen," though she never mentioned the actual name of the town. I must visit some time!

Um, lets see. I sent two of my kids to bed early for bad behavior. The other one smells like she spit up on her pajamas and it hasn't been washed in a week. Yum.

I know, all of the US is not like texas I am here work-related, so unfortunally I don't have that much spare time, but I will try to get out of the city at least once.

ghporter - I saw a few of those individuals that you mention, wearing cowboyhats and shiny pickup-trucks
And about the distance between Aarhus and Copenhagen is not that far - Denmark is a small country.. Here is a map that shows the country. (Copenhagen = København and Aarhus = Århus)

Go to Sundance Square (in Fort Worth) and eat at Unos Pizzeria, then visit the Coffee Haus and get a large Almond Moo.

Both places are on Houston Street.

Got out of work, went to a friend's house to welcome back one of our other friends from Jersey, played some pictionary and random other games. Came home, watched "Bourne Identity" DVD—and now going to go to bed. I mean, I've got a bottle of scotch here and vermouth, but I have to work tomorrow. Ahem.

One notable game to try, though only drunk, with lots of friends: frozen t-shirt game. Soak 10 t-shirts, freeze them, get really drunk with ten friends. Hand out frozen t-shirts—first one to get their t-shirt on wins ... more alcohol. Game works best when really, really drunk. More people the better.

Helped one of my best friends with packing up her apartment - she's moving on Monday to Florida to care for her sick mother. I've also kinda lost another of my best friends this week due to a complicated situation, so I wouldn't say that my Saturday was all that great.
