Excellent.

I'm not sure when they got added, but I look forward to "Call Me When You're Sober" being released.

Evanescence has let me down lately. I loved them so much more when they were a local band here. The 100 person crowds were awesome and old school Evanescese was a lot less mainstream and more original IMO.

Haven't heard any of the new stuff but I'm not holding out too much hope. I'd love to see them get away from the radio-friendly alternametal style and into some more progressive/epic/symphonic styles. Amy has one hell of a voice and would sound awesome in that kind of stuff. Of course that won't happen, so I'll just have to stick with Epica, Nightwish and the like.

I think that's common Uriel. But stay true!

If you like Evanescence check out Plumb, Amy Lee lists her as one of her influences. Absolutely amazing voice.

The song titles on the new Album are more akin to "Alabama redneck music" than the Evanescence of old. ("Call me when your sober", "Lithium", "The Last Song I'm wasting on you") ???

I'll judge after I hear it. I've pre-ordered it on iTunes and will probably buy the CD if it doesn't suck. I'll go out on a limb here: Even though "Fallen" is one of my favorite albums ever, the first single from "The Open Door", "Call me when your sober" doesn't impress me.

ditto. I was seriously disappointed in the track names. The first single is just bad. I really liked Fallen. They had serious potential to be an awesome symphonic gothic metal band. Fallen was deep. This one already looks like it's about some guy. Like dreamryche said, we'll just have to stick with bands like Nightwish, The Gathering, Within Temptation, etc. Once Ben left, my gut reaction was that their next CD will say a lot. Now I'm more intersted in what he's up to than Evanescence.

What I'm REALLY curious about is where Nightwish goes with a new singer. Tuomas is basically the songwriter for the band, so their music shouldn't suffer.

If it really matters that much to you, I'm probably not an Evanescence fan for long. At least based on what I see of their new CD. 10,000 days, however, is one of the best new CDs I've heard this year. Probably #2 on my list. Home from The Gathering is #1 and it will be really hard to dethrone that. I'm "into" Tool and The Gathering, never been into Ev, but I think that they had a great debut CD (even if it was overplayed) with potential to prove themselves in the long run.

sorry scaught - I don't even know who david cross is. I thought you were ripping on me. Ev tends to be a punchline due to their overexposure, but I don't care to be judged if I happen to like a specific band.

David Cross is a comedian. He was on Mr. Show, Arrested Development, and, most importantly, he guest-starred on a couple of NewsRadio episodes.

Say what you will about Evanescence (and I have), but I found a cover of Heart Shared Box that was pretty good. Not on the iTunes Store, though

Does every song sound the same like on their last album?

It's a shame her voice is wasted on such generic music.

It was waiting for me this morning (I had almost forgotten that I pre-ordered it). I was pleasantly surprised! It's a bit more mature than the last album, but with the same familiar sound.

Ah, Evanescence. Probably the only emo/goth/whatever band to hit the top of the Christian charts without even trying (otherwise known as the WTF heard 'round the world).

Agreed. Plumb is pretty good. And not bad on the eyes.

If you like Evanescence, then you'll probably like Plumb.

But the reverse is not true. I am a Plumb fan but not an Evanescence fan.

Thanks for that hint. I'm not interested in Evanescence, but checked out the ITMS link and immediately ordered their newest album.

It's so great.

Thanks again, I always like to find good music that way.

I gave it a listen ... but it didn't toot my horn ... maybe I'll have to give it some time.

I like Amy Lee's voice but I really can't see what is so special about the band as a whole. Their musical style is unoriginal and uninspired and they aren't exactly top-notch musicians.
