Hi Guys,

I just got my MacBook Pro back from a logic board replacement from Apple. Because it took so long they've given me £120 ($225) to spend in the Apple Store. I was thinking of getting a new LEvertigo Black case, bluetooth Mighty Mouse and the £20 Sennheiser MX 500 to replace my worn iPod headphones. What would you guys get?

I'm in need of a new monitor, so I would put that towards a 20"

If I didn't need that, I would simply go on a mini shopping spree with a new case, mighty mouse, etc. etc.

Although $225 would (almost) buy half a mini, in the UK, it would only buy almost a 1/3

How long is the credit good for? Because I'd be waiting until MacWorld San Fran in January to see all the new drool-some products released. Leopard won't come out till later, but that'd be another must-have.

If there's stuff you need right now, that's the way to go.

Whatever you do... don't buy the Mighty Mouse. It is an awful mouse.

Ditto. I like the scroll wheel, but it's so sensitive. I'm gonna get a Kensington trackball.

Get one of those.

The Mighty Mouse is fat and clunky feeling to me. I hate it too.

Not sure how long its good for. The guy on the phone just said to e-mail them on his address and they would sort it out. I might equire as to whether I can keep it on account cos I don't really desperately need anything right now. Only thing is I know Apple doesn't do gift vouchers so I'm not sure...

If you are going to get Sennheisers, get HD 201s or of you don't like a full can get a set of wraparound Koss KSC 55s.

For <$20 the KSC 55s rock - great sound, comfort and a full no-questions-asked lifetime warranty.

And buy them from my friends at headphone.com - they are awesome people and a local business in my area. Great headphone amps too.

Buy $225 worth of stuff from the Apple store

Seriously, I think you should hold onto it until MWSF, there ought to be some cool stuff there, and likely a release date for Leopard, which is a good place to put some money down.

I have a $50 iPod class action suit coupon to use, and I can't find anything either. I get an educational discount (being a PTO board member for an elementary school), and the discount is usually more than the $50 coupon. I can't combine them so I have nothing to spend it on. I never thought this would happen.

If you can, save it for Leopard. If not, just get a bunch of little stuff (new mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc). Or if you are so inclined, put it toward a Mini.

No need. I'm a student so in the UK we get 3 years warranty and 1 year phone support as standard.

Oh. That's good for you, then!

Here we get shafted by having to pay for it. Also, when we call Apple two months ago and say, "I have AppleCare and my battery is superheating and I need a replacement," they don't send it because they "doubt very much it's the battery" according to them and instead send an AC adapter and even send one that has a bent mechanism so that it damages the outlet in my PowerBook.

Now they've recalled them all and I don't have a battery that works.

Okay, now I have to eat some humble pie.

Apple is always SO nice to me...I was very upset and now they've been so nice to me that I have to stop being upset.

</sigh>

I love Apple. Even if I do spend a lot of money on AppleCare.

buy an external HD to do backups. Oh, and if you have extra money left over, you could buy a new carrying case for your computer

That's a good idea, it will come in handy especially with Time Machine coming out. Seriously...backup. Data Rescue II has been working on my friend's 60GB hard drive for the past 24 hours trying to recover several hundred dollars in iTMS music and irreplaceable photos....

Don't waste your time on the iTMS purchases, just send a note to customer service and tell them the hard drive crashed and you need to re-download them. They'll allow it. Concentrate on recovering the photos.

Yeah was tempted to do that but to be honest I don't really have THAT many essential files on my mac. I backup my photos to CD every so often etc.
