I am a happy new owner of a DLP XGA projector with a DVI input. Since I am not planning on getting cable or satellite, I shall try to receive HDTV over-the-air. What, in your opinion, is the most cost-effective ATSC receiver around? All receivers I see in the big box stores are $200 and up, that's unacceptable to me.

A friend of mine just cancelled a Dish Network account, and is left with "apparently HDTV capable" Dish receivers. Can they be used to receive O.T.A. HDTV?

I guess I could go with an ATI HDTV Wonder.

Here is a possible solution. The Samsungs have gotten fairly good reviews.

RefurbDepot.COM - HDTV Receivers

I personally have an LG-LST3510a that I purchased off of ebay for just under $200 shipped. It is pretty damn cool. It also has an integrated upconverting DVD player.

Another option is purchasing older Sat receivers that have integrated ATSC tuners. The Sony sat-100 and some other dtv receivers will work as ota tuners without having an active DirecTv account. I can't really say for certain on dish receivers, but I would assume they would be similar.
