Not too sure what forum this goes in but I figured I'd try here.

I love Mail in Mac OS X on my desktop, but I recently bought a Dell laptop (before the MacBooks, yes, I was upset after) and I can't find an email program that works as well with my .Mac email account. I've tried Outlook but I can't get the spam filter to work on the .Mac account, I've tried Thunderbird and I just don't like it, and Eudora doesn't have spam blocks in the free version. Does anyone here know something that would work well with .Mac for Windows?

Thunderbird is your best option. If you don't like it due to aesthetics, you can reskin it.

Yeah, Thunderbird is as Mail-like as you're going to find on Windows. I use it daily.

Any particular reason you didn't like it?

Sorry, that's what you get for buying a Windows machine.

Thunderbird is better than Mail, IMHO. At least Thunderbird never freaks out and forgets to move spam to the junk folder (Mail does this at least once a month on my wife's iBook).

you're damn right it is. try deleting an e-mail in the IMAP INBOX and all it does is put a strikethrough in the e-mail and doesn't get deleted.

but you know, it doesn't surprise me. just because outlook can support IMAP doesn't mean it's going to work correctly. just like Internet Explorer, which is STILL, to this day, not fully standards compliant.

i use thunderbird as an IMAP client on my windows box and it gets the job done, but definitely not as good as mail. mail's the best!

Actually in that case, Outlook IS working correctly. IMAP delete is only a flag. To truly delete you have to use Expunge. So Delete and then Expunge. Its just that Outlook isn't very user friendly in this area.

Still, Outlook's IMAP implementation is buggy at best.
