My 4G Color 20gb has taken several 2 foot plunges to the concrete.
This past April the battery lasted for 16 hours of a 17 hour roadtrip to Chicago.

Surely you don't mean to suggest that you played your iPod for 16 hours straight without charging the battery, or plugging it into something....

It might have been 15 hours, but yes, I barely touched it the whole time (besides pausing it and turning it off at pit stops)
I don't have a car charger and it ran out right before Illinois

Also fits in any pocket and will not pull your pants down from it weight like my iPod 20Gb (2nd gen)

2G had the best button layout and best tactile feedback.

I vote 4G. I liked the new click wheel and it was the last one to support firewire. (I think)

I agree. The 2G was a great iPod, but it was pretty noisy and slow. I really liked the 3G because of the touch sensitive buttons. The mini is also great. My mini has survived several falls without a scratch. I think that my next iPod will be a 3G though, just because of the cool buttons that are backlit.

The 4.5G was the last to support Firewire. Incase you are wondering the 4.5G iPods came when Apple took the 4G black and white away but before the 5G iPod came out. Essentially the 4.5G iPods were iPod photos.

I've owned every model since the 10gb 3G I agonized over buying what seems like years and years ago.
For me it's a tie between the Nano and the 5g. I thought I'd miss the firewire but I really haven't.

I loved my 1G mini. The 6 gig would have been great too. They were absolutely awesome, held up great, didn't need cases etc.
That said my 5G with iPod socks has been great it's barely been scratched since I keep it in the sock, and the video and colour screen for photos has been great. Me and a friend were trying to hook up another friend with this guy we knew, and she asked what he looked like, so I showed her a photo. It's great.
My 5G is definitely my fave iPod.

3G. Solid state. No moving switches (except hold). Firewire and USB (although it doesn't charge over USB). And I love the way the buttons light up.
I'm biased, though. I still have one.

1G - I replaced the battery a year ago and I still get 17 hours. It's built like a tank. I take it on all my camping trips and use it with an iTrip and a crank radio to play tunes. It's been left outside in the rain, but it still keeps going. The only negative is it only holds 5GB of music. I think it is the best looking iPod made.
4G - I use this daily because it holds all of my music. The camera connector has saved me many times when shooting pics. My only complaint is the battery life. I'll probably have to put a new battery in soon.
Nano - I use it when I run. It's small size is amazing, but only 4GB sucks. I'll buy another Nano when they increase the capacity to a minimum of 16GB.

Cool to hear that the mechanical scroll wheel is still holding up after all these years

Come to think of it, i should have keeped the 5G iPod out of the poll because it hasn't entered into history. Who knows, the 5G iPod my have a disk, battery, or other problem in the future.
Oh well

i love my 40gb. i used to daydream about taking a 10gb model and dropping a 30gig drive in there. the slim form factor was awesome.
i voted 3g and nano. i'm not the biggest fan of the click wheel, i think the 2g got it better.

Solid state = no tactile feedback. That anyone would choose the 3G beyond sentimental reasons and post-purchase rationalisation is beyond me.

I love how thin the 5G was. I was a lil worried at first. But compared to it the 4G seems so dang thick! It's even thinner than my mini was. Though I might argue the mini had the perfect balance of heft to size.

Speaking of "Face", Salty, why is every pic of you at an angle over the glasses? Are you afraid of your face in it's full force?
Just wondering.
5GB, my first was the best.

What part of "Discussion and support of all iPod models, accessories and upgrades." makes you think this thread doesn't belong there?
