I'd agree, except the instruction booklet that came with it has an illustration that clearly shows someone emptying their ash out of it into a trash can.

That's definitely a butt holder. I would imagine they don't want you using it as an ashtray since if burning embers were still active in there, and you closed it, it could cause a nasty little bang.

Illustrations in instruction booklets aren't always accurate. Plus, even with butts, there could be ash leftover.
