If I may (and if I may not, I'll do it anyway...) suggest some things:

Abandon Frames, The only purpose in your layout for them is to maintain your header at the top. Your visitors will see that when they arrive. They'll see where the navigation is, and if they need it, they'll go back up. Taking it out will give the site a less crowded feeling.

Is that uptime dynamic? It probably could be. That'd be cool.

that would be really cool, but i dont know how to go abou doing that. especially when my mac isnt always on. maybe i could write a terminal command that dumps the uptime command to a text file, and then runs a PHP script that uploads that file to my site, then a PHP line of code on my main page reads that file of the uploaded dump.

Hey by all means go nuts. Just don't expect anyone to be blown away when you tell people to check out the re-design.

The system() function in PHP will run a CLI command:

Why would PHP have to dump it to a file and upload it if you want to check the uptime of the machine it is running on?

I'm not sure that his machine is where his site is being hosted off of. (I haven't looked or anything) If it is, no problem, if it's not then he needs some intermediary to grab the file.

Yes... the retrieval and display of the file contents could be pretty easily handled right in PHP too.

Very nice kick52. I have one suggestion. You might want to format the About page so the pictures and text stay locked in. As I resize my browser, the text and pictures move all over the place.

Well I have my website hosted by Z-Host, not on my mac.

i mean, i could get a script to run every 15 minutes, which runs a PHP script on my mac and then uploads the results.

Seriously, I know nothing about web design, only graphics and advertising, but could I use a template like that and get away with it or would I be better off finding someone?

-UPDATE-

I have switched to wordpress. It looks so much better, and its easier to manage.

The only thing is, Safari doesn't do the WYSIWYG editor or the quicktag toolbar, so it really sucks doing it manually.

Though i downloaded Firefox, and I can see the quicktag, but no WYSIWYG editor, I'll fiddle about with it later.

I still havent made wordpress the main page, but i will do so later. until now, check it out.

Welcome To Kick52.com

The editors should display fine in Firefox... they do for me.

You might want to look into URL rewriting via mod_rewrite to replace WP generated URLs with clearer URLs that do not use wp02 as their parent directory.

That does look better but you should really have more contrast... something OTHER than blue.

If you are good at coding you can always have someone design it for you and you do the code.
