Well so far the picture looks fine to me...

I certainly hope davidflas meant this as a poke at the folks who freak whenever one of Apple's sites is down for maintenance... But it is a good indicator that they're adding more than just new songs and TV show episodes.

A point some may have missed: This graphic refers to the "iTunes Store." I guess that's the new name.

Exactly, it doesn't need new features, it already plays music and video's, now it just has to look better doing it.

But somehow I think we have to wait for 10.5 with core animations to see the new bad ass iTunes.

Core Animation won't make iTunes bad ass. They have to keep it the same as the Windows version. It would up their workload a lot if they suddenly started utilizing Mac only technologies.

People are reporting all the European stores are down too. That's a good sign, maybe Apple is gonna offer something more than just music to those outside the US.

Does anyone know if the store that shows up in iTunes is dependent on your actual physical location? I'm in Taiwan now and I get the Showtime message, but I'm not even sure if Taiwan has an iTunes store.

Taiwan does not have an iTunes store as yet, only Japan and Australia do in the region.

Well I think they can do anything that core animation does now it just takes more programming (like front rows interface). If anything it can be a bit bloated now and when 10.5 comes out they can let the OS do most of the work and shrink the download size a bit.

Either that or when it is running on 10.5 it can miraculously get cool due to hidden code.

Yeah, Quartz Composer and xCode talk to each other and 10.4 apps can definitely take advantage of that graphic sweetness, like the built-in RSS screensaver as a simple example.

But if you look at the status bar, the link points to movie trailers. . . .

Be adventurous cSurfr, click on one of those links and you shall see they redirect to a showtime link. Actually, considering they're using this showtime name in an internet address seems to suggest it's more significant. Maybe the video section of the iTS will be called Showtime.

All of the iTunes links on the US site also redirects to a Showtime link, which says page not found.
