Well, school started just a little bit ago. It wasn't more than two days before my youngest son had a cold. He passed it to his brother and sister. Now I have it.
My Mac Pro is supposed to arrive Friday. I feel miserable and have no motivation. Normally I'd be really excited, but with all my energy gone, the fun just isn't there.
Remedies anyone? Get well cures?

Sleep. Fluids.
For the latter, Gatorade (better for you than water). Get some Naked brand Wellness juice (the echinacea-containing one, if possible).
Clear soda is good.
Vitamin C.
Etc.
But most importantly, sleep. Sleep as much as you can and you'll recover sooner.

I agree sleep is the most important along with plenty of fluids. I'm sure a new Mac Pro will help too once it arrives. enjoy!

Keep warm, plenty of fluids and soup. I also take a vitamin or two along with eating fresh fruit.
Also, lots of cold medicine. Mmmmmm.... so good.

rest is the best thing. And with kids get used to them bringing it home. Mine came home with a cough and sore throat and I ended up with bronchial asthma, So his three days of being sick converted to my 2 weeks of being sick. The other is to "try" to wash hands and not drink after each other .. but that is hard with little ones.

Vit C could possibly be good for you, although (if I remember correctly) it generally won't magically help a cold clear up. After all, it's probably the most-over-ingested vitamin. Seriously, everything has vit C added to it. We probably ingest a couple hundred percent of our daily recommended intake every day. But hey, it's good moral support as long as you're not going overboard.
And as for the other, well, it doesn't do anything either. Really. Echinacea's pretty much about as effective as the placebo effect AFAIK.

Yeah, I drink orange juice and eat oranges. Look where it got me.
I guess we need to get sick once in a while to appreciate our health when we are well.

REST. Fluids. Rest. Fluids. Repeat until well. Stay warm but not too warm, and make sure to move around a little every now and then. Stretching is good-stretch GOOD at least twice a day to keep from getting stiff and sore-keep it up later and you'll feel better too.
This part won't help you now, but when you feel better, gargle Listerine twice a day. Really. And teach your kids to do it too.
I've been doing this for about five years, and instead of the 3-4 colds I'd have every year, I have had ONE since. I figure it's all about letting the virus settle in and get going-or destroying the little bastard with chemical warfare. It may not be particularly pleasant, but it's good for you oral hygene anyway, and it seems to work; I've gotten my wife into doing it and her upper and lower respiratory problems have been seriously curtailed as well.

The herbs have never, ever been proven to work on any LARGE scale study.
Fluids.
Vit C (can't hurt, might help).
Hot showers.

I dunno, I think Vitamin C must help to some extent. I drink orange juice religiously, and I almost never get sick. If I quit the OJ and start drinking soda pop or something for a while, that's almost always when I get nailed with a bad cold.

My grandmother swore by eating cinnamon.
Yes, regular cinnamon.
She made us sprinkle it on toast with sugar, added it to oatmeal, or sprinkled it with sugar on top of freshly sliced apples. She also added it to freshly brewed hot tea.
You know what? We never, ever, got sick.
I was just thinking about that tonight and I Googled it and found out that cinnamon apparently is being studied extensively because it is one of only a few chemicals that can kill bacteria outright.
Cinnamon’s essential oils also qualify it as an “anti-microbial” food, and cinnamon has been studied for its ability to help stop the growth of bacteria as well as fungi, including the commonly problematic yeast Candida. In laboratory tests, growth of yeasts that were resistant to the commonly used anti-fungal medication fluconazole was often (though not always) stopped by cinnamon extracts.
Cinnamon’s antimicrobial properties are so effective that recent research demonstrates this spice can be used as an alternative to traditional food preservatives. In a study, published in the August 2003 issue of the International Journal of Food Microbiology, the addition of just a few drops of cinnamon essential oil to 100 ml (approximately 3 ounces) of carrot broth, which was then refrigerated, inhibited the growth of the foodborne pathogenic Bacillus cereus for at least 60 days. When the broth was refrigerated without the addition of cinnamon oil, the pathogenic B. cereus flourished despite the cold temperature. In addition, researchers noted that the addition of cinnamon not only acted as an effective preservative but improved the flavor of the broth.
Another great article.
So, maybe eating some cinnamon is in order? Plus, it's kind of spicy and might clean out the sinuses.

emergenC also works quite well.

It just happens to be the best-tasting of the "Wellness" bunch.
Something can be said, anyhow, for the power of suggestion.

I love Naked! I've had two today, one for lunch, one for after-supper dessert. They're expensive though, $3.00 a bottle or so. Fortunately, my school forces us to buy 'dining dollars' which can only be spent at their store, so I might as well use them on something good.

Garlic, if you can handle raw garlic even better. I make myself garlic on toast, seems to do the trick, and of course load up on Vitamin C, drinking orange juice is not enough. If you can get Kiwi fruit locally, it has 10 times the level of Vitamin C that oranges do.
And as the other have mentioned, lots of water and sleep.
