When I was looking at the new nano debut QuickTime streaming video at Apple.com, I noticed something uncommon: a bad crowd response. and I ask my self why? Apple did nothing wrong! The new Nano is awsome! it looks more durable, it has more capacity, new iPod software upgrades, new earphones, and it now comes in great colors!!! but... I didn't hear a single scream of happiness from the audience, not even an applause. People was expecting something more, and then the shuffle comes in, the Shuffle is the real iPod improvement here, it now looks appealing, cool, practical as a small mp3 player with a dock and a brand new set of earphones! did I mention it cost $79 dollars? SEVENTY NINE DOLLARS, when Apple sold a great gadget at that price? NEVER. but people was quiet. Everybody was waiting for something more, but what was it? Apple didn't promise anything... why people were unhappy at the Apple special presentation?
The answer is really simple: RUMORS.
first was the iPhone, then the Mac Tablet, time past by and everybody was talking about an iPod Video Widescreen with a magical touchless screen... then it wasn't magical, it was a touch screen made of a special material that wont let your fingermarks be on your device. at the end everybody was happy with all those rumors and I don't know when, but suddenly everyone was waiting to see this dream devices at the Apple Special presentation. Even a 47" iMac with a wall mount option was rumored. P L E A S E!
That's what happened that day. Even Steve Jobs was sad. He knew that Fans just wanted to saw dreams on stage, and he was scared, you can see for your self on that video, he even ask for an audience response. When Steve ask for an applause at his presentations? Never. He was afraid of not showing what the people was especting that morning: DREAMS. he is not a magician. he is a visionary.
We are making a mistake believing in rumors.... we need to stop making them, and lets all wait for the real surprise. the day will come. just wait.
