Firstly, I can't see this posted in the lounge and apologies if it has been already. Mods - please lock/delete if necessary.
The Register is reporting that a French newspaper has printed a photo of the "genuine" iPhone.
If it's true, it looks pretty nice!

Somehow, it has sense to announce the iPhone in Europe or Japan where cellulars are so much common trend than in the US.

-original iMac, TiPB 400, Cube, Macbook (black), iMac 24¨, plus the original iPod and a black nano 4GB-

Japan would be the best bet for the iPhone launch - Apple's 2nd biggest market outside the US and is light years ahead of us all in cellular technology uptake.

Its probably fake, based on the old black nano. The only unrealistic thing I can see is that the screen looks very close to the edges of the phone. Oh and once you have put the card into that slot (sim card or memory card?), how do you get it out again?

It's very fake. The shine on it doesn't have enough contrast and the buttons are unusable. The clickwheel is too small to be useful too. The bezel is too thin which Apple doesn't do because it has paid out enough for cracked screens. Nah Apple has something better than that.

That's 20 minutos.. It's like in-flight magazines meets newspapers. Anything that can entertain you on your way to work will be printed.
Nice ad for Apple though. I don't see Apple entering the GSM business unless it is a 3G phone and sometime in the future.

Wasn't this rumor debunked Monday before the Special Event? This photo is from the cover of a UK magazine that created a mock-up for an article it was doing. I think it's pretty old.

It was. They admitted it was a fake and a printing error.
End of story.

I can't wait for a year from now when the iPhone is released, everyone asks Apple why they took so long, and APple replies, "Well, we weren't actually developing one until last year. You guys kept bringing it back up so often we figured there might be a market."
