Alright- for years now people in this forum have been telling me that .Mac is a waste of money. I'm buying my own condo soon and I need to cut back on as many expenses as I can- and .Mac is something that I don't absolutely need.

The main reason I used .Mac for for webspace- what is an easy to use host that I can turn to? I want it to have php or whatever I need to run blosxom (I want a blog integrated into my website). Also, I use tons of image hosting for posting in message boards. I'm already using a bookmark sharing service, and my pictures are put up on flikr instead of a .Mac album.

The thing I'm most sad about is losing my screen name. Does anyone know if I can still use it to log into iChat (and thus prevent anyone else from taking it)?

I haven't had .Mac for 3 years but I still have and use my username for ichat.

we just had this thread with Eug a while back no? Didn't he go for Dreamhost and pay like ten bucks for a year with a promo coupon?

Now Dreamhost has been a mess lately, but it's still something to consider if you're just interested in cheapish webspace and the like.
