Does anybody know if Pixar will be doing straight to video movies for Disney. I have Pixar withdrawal symptoms already, since the last one (Cars). Or are we sentenced to one movie every 18 months?

Judging by the "quality" of Disney's straight to DVD movies, I truly hope not.

I agree. Mass produced movis would definitely not help, and they would not satisfy the craving either.

Try exploring other types of animation. I've become quite bored with the modern 'kids cg film with natty one-liners for adults' genre. Just go watch some anime.

Mulan II was fine in the sense of "enjoyable by adults". Hopefully Pixar would bring their talent to the straight-to-video category. Maybe even make a permanent all CG show (virtual Lizzie McGuire, maybe) that's marketed to tweens, instead of kids (like all Pixar movies are).

Acceptable CG quality is now a-dime-a-dozen. But Pixar really shines in the writing/scripting/directing department, some things that Dreamworks is severely lacking.

I have been exploring anime. 20 upskirt shots per episode. I am all for de-tabooing sex, but isn't this objectification of girls of all ages going to mess up the moral fiber of Japanese boys?

Anyone wanna rent "Finding Nemo 1 1/2 Special Family Edition with Bonus Web Games Included!" straight to DVD video from Disney?

Well, part of the reason Pixar is good is that they take the time to do it right. I wouldn't want to see them spend time on some crappy straight-to-DVD release, myself.

Having films go straight to DVD is going to likely become a norm in the next few years. Studios are pushing for it because they could get significant sales on release day. I don't think it will be long before straight to DVD is no longer synonymous with second-rate...

Straight to DVD animation is made possible by cheap Korean labour. It's just a way to make quick and dirty money for Disney so you'll never see straight to DVD Pixar movies.

Just don't expect any intentional humor.

Do you have further evidence of this? I'm under the impression that straight to DVD releases from Disney are the work of Disney's younger/less experienced animators...
