I need to spend another £1 (just about $2) on the Applestore (UK) to qualify for free shipping, any suggestions???
I'm buying an iPod (refurb 2 gig Nano) and have thought about getting a case or protective film for it, or maybe an audio accessory, any suggestions?
P.S I'm looking to spend as little as possible ideally!

Been thinking of an iTunes gift certificate, the universal iPod dock connector sounds interesting though.

is the cost of the 'cheapest item' for something you don't really need or want going to end up costing the same as the cheapest shipping option or close enough to not even make it worth it?

Ink cartridges are cheap, for most printers. And moreover, that's filling the cart with something useful rather than just, well, filler.

Sheesh.

Is the new iPod shuffle the cheapest piece of standalone (not accessory) hardware Apple has ever released?

The original shuffle was $99 when it came out.

You've got a point there, although the postage costs around half the price of the nano protector I'm thinking of getting.

JFYI the refurb 2gig iPod Nano is just under the equivilent of $124, where as the 2 Gig iPod Mino is just over $188, although I can get it through work for just under $177. So does my refurb sound like good value???
I think I prefer the look of the 1G Nano's, USB syncing is supposedly much faster with them, the only minuses that I'm bothered about are battery life and the ability to record Wav's on the 2G "Minos" (as I've christened them )

Not when it was released... it wasn't lowered to $69 for a while.

So, I was asking if there is a less expensive standalone hardware product that Apple has released than the new shuffle. And I meant at the time it was released.

what dave is trying to get across is that when the shuffle came out it was more expensive then it is today. so in fact, you thinking it was the cheapest thing (of todays price) that apple had put out is incorrect.

and this is what happens when writing a reply sometimes

You could get a refurb shuffle for $49 with armband or external battery.
