You don't. You only need the drivers if you're not running at least 10.4.2.

You don't have to install drivers for Mighty Mouse if you're running the latest version of OS X. It just works. Apple, however, provides the CD for people who are still running Panther and/or maybe Jaguar.

This is almost as funny as the time that James complained that there weren't enough screensavers available for Macs as compared to Windows.

Then what is this?

And no, you don't have to install the Mighty Mouse driver if you have the latest system version. It's already built-in.

Heh I just spent two whole days getting rid of spyware/virus things on my gf's PC. All thanks to her accidently hitting a dodgy link.

I love installing drivers compared to that !

On a brand new Mac Mini Core Duo 1.6ghz, the driver had to be installed for the wireless mighty mouse.

The wireless mighty mouse worked as a mouse, but the System Preferences Keyboard and Mouse pane did not have the Mighty Mouse controls until the driver was installed.

He didn't specify wireless, so I think we all assumed wired.

I disabled my side buttons anyway. They always activated Exposé when I was trying to drag. That's what that area was originally for anyway.

Why was he 'burned' ?

He's right.

The wireless Mighty Mouse doesn't work on 10.4.7 (the shipping pre-installed OS, with no update available until two nights ago) without installing a driver first.

The fact that 10.4.8 is now available doesn't change that.

Incorrect. It worked on my 10.4.7 preinstalled system as I indicated above.

It worked on my 10.4.7 out-of-the-box Mac Pro.

And I took a core duo mac mini out of the box and it required the drivers.

Just because you had a better experience does not mean that his experience and mine were imaginary.

He was right.
