Nothing he can do now. It's probably set already. All he'd do is rebreak it and charge you money.
Give it some time to heal.

I think I broke my middle toe years ago when I stubbed it on the chair leg. It hurt for months whenever I put too much pressure on it. I never went to the doctor for it. This toe is now a little big bigger at the middle joint compared to the other toe on the other foot. If it wasn't broke then I have no idea what I did to it.

If it makes you feel any better I got nailed in the balls with a basketball tonight. Floored me for a few minutes until I hobbled over to get a drink and made sure I was still capable of urinating.

From what I understood is that you have to immobilize it so it will not bend, but you should see a doctor and ask for his opinion.

I think you're supposed to tape it up.

Happened to me a few years ago with my big toe, turned all kinds of cool colors as it was healing. I was dating a nurse at the time, and she just taped it up to immoblize it.

I've broken both of my pinky toes, one of them twice. I never went to the doctor. They healed up just fine after a few weeks, but I set the bones myself and taped them up. Of course, I'll never know if I did it properly or not. It just hurt like the dickens.
And yes, I just used the phrase "like the dickens."
Just for fun...a broken toe picture...

I also received a bruise due to my 'injury,' but I will refrain from posting a picture of it, I don't think it would be well received.

I feel you pain. I currently have either a badly sprained ankle or it's broken. I did it on Sept 9th and haven't gone to the doctor yet. The swelling is almost completely gone and the bruise went away in about five days. It still hurts a little but not much.

You must be 'swelling' with pride.

On a related note, is the ankle supposed to pop loudly when it's sprained?
I broke my ankle in high school, and a couple months back I was playing some intense basketball and came down on it sideways, it popped really badly and I collapsed...it swelled up pretty huge and I couldn't walk on it for day or two, and even after that i couldn't rotate it at all without severe pain. It still bugs me if I rotate it too far...could I have broken it again?

Jawbone, that toe needs to be splinted or it will STAY bent like that. It's almost certainly broken, and probably near a joint. If you want mobility, get it treated.
macfantn, GO TO YOUR DOCTOR and get that toe looked at. Even the small toe is important for balance and fine movements.
Gossamer, did you come down on the OUTSIDE of your foot or the INSIDE? The OUTSIDE involves a ligament that's supposed to be pretty darn strong-in fact it's supposed to withstand forces strong enough to break the bone it's attached to instead of failing itself. On the inside there are a number of lesser ligaments and they can give way far more easily. You probably haven't broken it again, but do get it looked at. It could have cracked one of the bones in your ankle and believe me, you WANT that treated!

It could be broken, but it sounds like you rolled your ankle, I've done this dozens on times playing soccer and it will hurt for over a week, pretty much it's a sprain on steroids.

On the contrary, I’m sure it would receive standing ovations from certain quarters.
