Maybe it is good, but I've been spoiled by the original Colombian version which was 1000 times better. I have many better things to do on weekdays at 8 PM.

GF, you're just lucky to have seen lots of the original. I love the concept (Vanessa Williams as the boss? WOW!) but I've seen a lot about Betty here in San Antonio, since there's a lot of Spanish media here, and I know the original has been running for quite some time (though I didn't know it was Colombian). And everything I've seen about it looks both funny and good.
The rest of the New World Spanish programming I've seen has NOT been terribly impressive. Sabado Gigante and all the telenovelas leave me cold-bad acting, stupid ideas and downright insulting stereotyping in SG, plus the OVER THE TOP acting in the telenovelas, which makes U.S. soaps look like Fine Acting Embodied! To be honest, I actually started LIKING futbol on TV in Honduras simply because all the other TV was so bloody awful! Betty La Fea, on the other hand, looks like a completely different sort of television from all that.
Also, since Salma Hayek is involved at the top on the U.S. version, I think it should be at least decent, if not quite as good as the original. There's a lot you can get away with in a telenovela that just won't work on manistream U.S. networks.
