I ran a 5k race today, and I set a personal best time (PR - personal record). I know this isn't much, but to me it made my whole week. I have been training for this race for the last 8 weeks, and now I'm 32 seconds away from my lifetime goal in 5k races. I know I can beat this PR the next time I race. I basically walked around on cloud 9 today - the "high" from this race was wonderful.

This has me wondering if anyone else has ever set a record (or personal best recently)?

At the six flags great america (chicago) a friend and I set a record on a ride called shock wave. The two of us went 100 consecutive rides. The previous park record was 93.

I set a record. Slowest 400 m run ever. I came in at around 1 min 40 seconds. Pretty damn slow. This was my freshman year HS track.

I set a school record for the frosh/soph indoor 600M. A pretty obscure race, I know. I was also on the relay team that set our school's indoor frosh/soph 2 mile relay record. I'm pretty sure we still own this one.

My best time for 1.5 miles was 12 minutes 6 seconds, and that was almost 20 years ago. Obviously that's a personal record...

My best time for 1 mile was 4 minutes and 57 seconds a few years back. I about died after that one. I ran until I couldn't see straight.

During high school, I played junior hockey and still hold two league records: most time spent in the penalty box; and I was the only guy to ever take off his skate and try to stab somebody.

According to Nike+iPod and Paula Radcliffe I set a personal best for the 1 mile during my run yesterday.[*]

I went for a 2 mile run yesterday and the first mile was great, but the 2nd mile was very choppy. I had to walk twice.

[*] At the end of my run my iPod said something along the lines of, "This is Paula Radcliffe. Congratulations on setting a personal best for the 1mile." Pretty cool.

Most posts in MacNN evvrr!!

And pyrite I've done that or similar to that before.

It's an addiction. First step is admitting to it.

I bought a guitar with a thinner neck so I could play it longer without my hands getting tired.

I'm on track to break the 300lb mark by Christmas. I went to the doctor early last week for a sinus infection. Got on the scale (their scale stops at 350lbs) and i was able to be weighed! First time in 3 years. I came in at 342lbs.

That made me feel happy. Baby steps.

Aligator, what's your goal for the 5k?  Since I took up marathoning, I don't even remember the last time I ran one of those...

I broke my high school basketball scoring record for a single game: 39 points. Not a huge number for other teams, but our team always focused on well-rounded basketball, with a special emphasis on defense. At other schools, the records are into the 50s and such.

My best 5k time prior to this race as 26:47. At this race, I ran 25:31. The course was very hilly. My life long goal (read goal for the past 6 years) is in the 24 minute range. I know if I started some speed work I could easily get under 25 minutes.

I know I'm not going to set any speed records, but I can set PR's.

Ya got me there. I got mine in '95. Still, 14 years with one cell phone number is a LONG time, isn't it? I know 11 years sure is!

its quite funny, saying that you have kept your cell number forever, and then your signature "Too Many Things Have Changed." right underneath.

You also get a congratulations message if the system detects you dropping your knickers and peeing in the street.
