PSP backlight on low bad?

So I was playing Battlefront II on my PSP last night. It was really dark, and the backlight was really bright, so I turned it to its lowest setting. Whenever it is on the lowest setting, it makes a whining sound. Is this bad for the LCD or backlight? Thanks in advance.

I think that's totally normal for electroluminescent backlights.
