Brett Favre is still VERY good and still one of the most popular players in the league. He's the only reason I'm watching tonite.

Yeah, because the media still insists on pimping him relentlessly.

I have a distinct feeling had Brett Favre retired and Aaron Rodgers was the starting QB for the Packers, this game would have been a Sunday morning game.

Brett was great back in the day, but it's just sad to watch him now... I wish he would retire before I only remember him for throwing a massive number of interceptions.

I'm sorry. I HAD all the respect in the world for Favre. But, someone who can't go out on a good note ....
it's not just him, I know his line sucks. But, he shoulda retired.
The PACK is done with MNF.

Brett Favre is a legend. A legend with only one Super Bowl, granted, but a legend nonetheless.
And while I'm here...
Troy Aikman
32,942 Career Passing Yards
165 Career Passing TDs
61.5% Career Completion %
81.6 Career QB Rating (including a 99.0 rating in 1993)
3 Super Bowls in 4 years
And not a bad freakin' commentator these days.

Well then, let's do Bledsoe:
44,109 Career Passing Yards
249 Career Passing TDs
52% Career Completion %
Lost a Bowl or two.
But Favre- still shoulda laid down.

Lost one Super Bowl, and threw 4 interceptions in that game.
Plus, the yardage and TDs are somewhat inflated compared to AIkman since Bledsoe has played 3 more years and counting than Aikman did in his career. Lower QB rating too.
BUT...I hope he does well now with his current team.

Aikman was fortunate that the Cowboys had a swarming D, Emmit Smith, a fantastic O-Line, Daryl Johnston, and Michael "the Crackhead" Irvin.
He rode those teammates all the way to the Hall. He was a very good QB, but there were at least 4 others in the league at the time that I think were better. (Elway, Young, Kelly, Marino.)
Back to Favre:
You have to wish that he'd have learned from the guy who beat him in his last Super Bowl. Leave while you are still on top.

I enjoy watching the Packers lose. There's nothing quite like seeing the look on Brett Favre's face after he throws an interception to the Vikings.

It was a little different watching MNF without Michaels and Madden expressing their man-crush on Brett Favre.
Of course, they still got to express their man-crush on Tom Brady on Sunday Night week 3 while he was losing to my Broncos.

hmmm
While he WAS very good, its clear that the bloom is off the rose and he's just another athlete who failed to retire before he embarrassed himself. I thought maybe last year he would have seen the light. I see it as a rather sad end to his once glorious career.

Assumption: You are talking interceptions.
Yes: 5 in what, 4 games? Nice 1-3 record. :-) (EDIT: I had the numbers backwards)

Elway, Young, and Marino were all great, no doubt about it. Kelly is debatable. The other three were at least as good as Aikman. Kelly was not.
Aikman might not have had as good of stats as some of them, but he was a GREAT leader. He always delivered when it counted. Sure, he had a great team around him, but he was the leader of that squad.
Elway was my favorite QB when I was really young, even though I've always been a Cowboys fan. I was devasted when the 49ers beat them. A truly great player who retired on top.
Back to Favre:

Sure, he's not the player he was, but perhaps Favre loves the game so much that he just doesn't want to part with it yet. Maybe he doesn't care about how his image looks that he feels he has to go out on the absolute top.

Brett Favre is the way most entertaining player in NFL today. He's one of my absolute favorite players. Watching him run is hilarious
(though he throws a mean ball)

Great player, cool as the proverbial "other side of the pillow." Never seemed rattled. Never looked like he was trying, just so smooth.
Not the best ever though.
I didn't put him in the list of players who were better than Aikman at the time because once he left the 49ers, he was more like Favre is now.

I don't remember Joe throwing so many interceptions. (And there is only so much a Quarterback can do if the opposing team can get to you on a regular basis.)
Side note: I'm surprised we never see Montana anymore. No sportscasting, no nothing.

Does anyone remember what Favre has done in his playoff appearances since losing the superbowl? A TON OF INT's The last 3 years he has become a poor man's Vinny Testaverde. That said, he is probably a down to earth dude who treats people with respect (media included) which explains why he gets a pass on his inferior skills.

No, Montana didn't fade like Favre, but he also didn't go out on top, either. He kept going, playing for the Chiefs, suffering from his bursa sac issues in his elbow, until he just faded away.
Actually, although much shorter, his career path was mirrored pretty well by his favorite target, Jerry Rice.

Favre is overrated period. 132 career fumbles, and even more interceptions. The guy is Vinny Testaverde with personality and mobility.

Brett was the sh*t for a few years, though. It's just he hasn't been good in about 5 or 6 years. And he was just plain BAD last year.
Despite the MVP awards, he doesn't even make my top 10 QBs of the last 25 years. Well, maybe, barely.
Elway, Montana, Young, Marino, Aikman, Moon (must consider his time in Canada), Peyton Manning (even though I hate him), Fouts, Kelly... I'd even think about throwing Randall Cunningham in there.
I'd take all of them in front of Favre, except for around 1996 or so when Favre was on fire.
But if I had to pick one guy to build a team around, one guy I'd want in there when the chips are down, I'd want Elway. Montana would be second.

I am really confused by all the vitriol directed towards Aaron Brooks. Yes, he's wildly inconsistent, but he can be very, very good. He's still the only QB in the history of the Saints organization to win a playoff game (and he won that game against the defending champs with 4 TD passes IIRC). Now people act like he's Scott Mitchell or something.
Did someone just question Jim Kelly as a QB? Come on! The guy was really good—he even called his own plays, which was (and still is) rare by that point.
Nice that the Eagles finally decided to play in the second half...

Please be joking. Please, please, please be joking.
Last year: 13 TDs and 17 INTs. He had a few good years, but not enough to put him in the ranks of the other guys listed in this thread. Not even close.

Who was comparing him to the other QBs in this thread? All I'm saying is he doesn't get enough credit for all the good things he's done.
