Yeah, I guess not having to take them outside constantly or bathe them could be construed as boring.

The key thing is to get as much pee out of the carpet as possible, right away. Once the pee soaks into the floorboards, you've lost the battle, and the place will smell a little like dog until you replace the floorboard. A good method is blotting it up with toilet paper.

Then, get one of those solutions from the pet store that's specially for eliminating pet odors. I think the one we use is "Natures' Miracle" or something like that. We tried a few home remedies, but found that they never really worked as well as one of these solutions that says it has enzymes that break down urine. Spray that on the stain, let it sit for a short while, then blot it out again. You need to make sure that once you're done, the caroet is as dry as you can make it.

We have a "problem" Golden Retriever that decides every few weeks that she's too good to use the fenced-in yard we have as a bathroom, and elects to use the area right in front of the TV for about a week at a stretch. We ended up having to get a steam cleaner to make the cleaning process more automatic, but the basic cleaning process is still the same for us, using the enzyme-based cleaners, and then getting the carpet as dry as possible afterwards.

My cat had problems finding the litter box when we moved into my first home. Like Dork, I had the best luck with an enzyme-based cleaner.

pee in it's doghouse, and then lock it inside the doghouse for a few days. worked 4 me

but for cleaning the carpet, use a steam cleaner w/ the enzyme stuff first, then regular cleaner, then a fresh-em-up fragrance-based cleaner
Signatures are ugly. Bitchy women are ugly......YOU do the math :)
