Some kids shouldn't play with knives. Some adults too.
It's an option made available to those who might appreciate it.
For those who don't then they can do it the traditional way.

I get that... I just hate seeing everything being computerized. Why not just let your kids draw with a crayon or some chalk.

Use a pumpkin-cutter and don't stick your finger in the way. I've been doing it since I was 5 and I've yet to cut myself.
