Alright phone hackers...

I got a Verizon RAZR V3m today and I'd like to enable OBEX on it. I've done the seem patch on it (offset 006a) that I thought would enable OBEX, but that didn't work. I already used the seem patch to restore vibrate than ring (why would Verizon disable that), but I'd really like OBEX enabled.

Anyone with enough experience here to help me?

My friend flashed his Verizon RAZR with the Alltel firmware. Since Alltel doesn't block anything in their firmware, the phone functions completely. If you search for RAZR alltel flash I'm sure you'll get plenty of instructions.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm a little scared of flashing my firmware to the Alltel since it does break a few functions, and there is not Verizon V3m firmware available to flash back to. It's really a one way street.

Can you not use the flashing program to backup the previous firmware first?

I haven't looked. From what I've read it's a one way street.

I'd have hacked my E815 to enable OBEX by now, but I was waiting for my warranty to run out. That, and I don't have a PC to do it with. Doesn't work with Virtual PC or my old testing computer that runs Win98.

I haven't done it, so I couldn't really tell you what to do or how, but I think that enabling OBEX on the E815 is supposed to be possible with Moto4Lin, which is available for OS X.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

I believe there is no way to enable OBEX on the V3m without installing the Alltel firmware. HowardForums are down right now, though...

Did you try this?

I'm not sure if it will work with the firmwire you phone has...
