Since so many people have been bitching about delivery service I thought I'd take a moment to celebrate FedEx's performance in delivering my first iPod. I ordered it Thursday afternoon and it shipped from Shanghai that day (even with an engraving!) and arrived at my doorstep at noon today.
Its brief trip took it through Alaska and Tennessee before ultimately arriving in Pennsylvania.
Yay FedEx & yay iPod!

Congratulations FedEx on doing a job you were paid in advance to do and completing it.

That's a good point SWG, but my scheduled delivery was 5-7 business days (estimated for October 16) so I'd still consider this praise worthy.

Love em.
When I bought my iPAQ a few years ago I ordered it from the HP Refurb Store at 8:30pm or so here in Ohio, the FedEx chick was ringin' my doorbell at 7:15 the following morning.

Good for you.
But you should NEVER use FedEX again. Chances are slim that it will ever happen again.
Nah, I'm just kidding. FeDex has been good to me too.

I got my MBP one business day early. This makes a difference when it's Friday instead of Monday...
For all the complaining about FedEx I've seen here, they satisfy an AWFUL LOT of Mac lovers every day.

Well it is nice and all but just so you know they didn't ship it sooner because they wanted to make you happy, they did it because it ended up cheaper for them.
What probably happened is they had a shipment to your area going out once a week or some overnights and you were lucky to get it sooner cuz it is better for them to send it with the overnights than wait and send out another truck later in the week.
Personally I have never had any shipment problems with anyone but UPS the odd time.
Recently I shipped a box to Australia using Canada post and they said 14 day would be $30 and 3-5 day would be $100. I sent it by the 14 day method ($30) and they ended up getting the package in 4 days and that was from Thurs - Mon. I was happy and I just assumed it is because of the same situation I mentioned above.

Yes, the regular postal service can be amazing (in a good way) sometimes. I find it has a lot to do with the day you send it on and which post office you send from. I have sent packages from Hong Kong to Australia when quoted 10-12 days delivery, they arrived in 4 days. It has happened a few times like that.

FedEx blew my shipment bigtime. Apple specified 2 day shipping, FedEx read that as 5-7 day shipping. Go figure. You just got lucky.

I hope you complained to Apple about this-if you paid for 2 day shipping you should have gotten it or gotten your money back.

Perhaps I sound rude, but I don't love a company that does what I pay them for. When they do it sooner and better then I begin to love them. I figure on time is the bottom of the bucket for doing it right.

I just miss the old days when they were dirt cheap because they were still buying market share from UPS.
Anyone remember buying stuff at MacMALL (when they didn't suck) for 15 bucks and getting FREE overnight delivery? I would order stuff on the phone (pre internet) at 10pm and it was on my desk by 9:00am

Oh yeah!! How about Airborne Express? Same deal, free overnight shipping for ANYTHING you bought! Nothing better than seeing a game you were jonesing for, buying it at night, and having it the next morning, now THAT'S service
