I've been giving serious thought to buying a Nintendo DS, after finding the screen on my Game Boy Micro a bit... eh, micro, and the games for the DS about the same price for the older Game Boy Advance games (I'm sure Nintendo is doing this on purpose). So, the question is, should I get an iPod white DS (pics) or a sleek black DS (pics)?

I was originally planning on getting a white DS, but then I've heard reports of the white DS looking dirty easily, and most DS users I've talked to seem compelled to get a black DS for some reason and some wished they hadn't gotten a white DS so as to have gotten a black one.

My white DS is still as white as possible even after several months of being in different environments (pockets, on dirty surface, etc). No sign of dirty mark, scratches or even finger prints.

That said I really want black DS but I'm still very happy with my white DS.

Pick it to match whatever iPod you own.

This is the sentiment I've been hearing from many DS users/gamers. Glad your white DS doesn't dirty up, though.

Well, my white iPod always has on a blue iSkin dress and lives in my car, so I'm not sure how much matching it would really do even if I got a white DS.

I picked white (which I own) not cause it matches anything, but I like it clean/neatness.

The black is supposed to show up every finger print and scratch more then the white. That would piss me off.

My white DS still looks clean, got it the day they came out. But I'd rather have a black one

My white DS gets blue on the shoulder buttons after having it in my jean pockets for 10 minutes.

The matte/rubber surface is prone to dirt but it comes off with a Mr. Clean Magic erasure.

I used to have a white DS but was able to return it on the 89th day out of a 90 day return and get the black DS. That being said I'm much happier with the black. My white one was starting to turn an orange/yellowish color on the L/R buttons and you could see dirt along the edges and I couldn't get it out. Everyone's main complaint about black is it shows the fingerprints, but the white one got smudged up just as easily, even if it was as noticable, but it really isn't that big of a deal. Don't let that sway your decision. However, I found the inside of the black one much better. It is a flat black and not glossy. I wish the whole DS was like that. I prefer playing games while staring at the black instead of the white. I can't really explain it, but it's the main reason I prefer the black one.

Hmm, white and black are about even in the poll. It's just as well, because they're both very good looking.

I finally decided on a black DS, though, if only because I'm a little saturated with white being that all my newer Macs are white, and my next Mac will no doubt be white as well. Also, I prefer a black bezel while gaming, because it usually blends in with the game more and is less jarring than a white bezel.

I was thinking of selling my Game Boy Micro. Anyone here interested? I'd probably throw a game in there as well. If I can't get at least $50 from it, I'll probably not sell it, though, as it wouldn't be worthwhile. I love the Micro, BTW, but I don't see any sense in having both.

I have a white. Its nice. I bought it because it was the only one available in my town of 400,000 people. I would have bought a pink if it was the only option.

Though black is kind of sexy....

I don't have one yet, but when I do finally get one, it'll be white. White is just sexier.

Agreed, but got a black one for my birthday, having already a white iBook and an iiMac... But the black background looks stunning when looking at the screen. So the perfect one would be white outside black inside.
I'm-a trying to wonder, wonder, wonder why you, wonder, wonder why you act so.

Black wasn't available (except imports) when I got mine so I got white, which is still very slick. If I got one now I'd get black, I think. The upside is that mine will match the Wii, which AFAIK will only be available in white at first too.

Would anyone really care about the color of their Wii?

(Ok, that just sounds really silly)

You can try Best Buy and if they don't exchange it for you Nintendo will.

We suggest you use your system for a few weeks to determine whether this interferes with your enjoyment of game play. If, after using your system for awhile, you feel that this tiny dot is too distracting, the Nintendo DS does carry a one-year warranty. We are happy to inspect and, if necessary, fix your system at no charge within the warranty period.
