Pretty nice. Too bad they still have to restate previous earnings.

That's up about 400,000 from this time last year, and up almost 300,000 from Q3 2006.

Here is my tracking to date. I had to look high and low and am missing 1997 and a few quarters around there.
IMHO, things are looking good. I was amazed when someone came to me just yesterday and said "I'm interested in buying a Mac" (She is NOT a computer person... but saw one on a train trip and was amazed).

The best quarter ever for Macs was around 1.3 million sold. This quarter they sold 1.6 million.
Good quarter for sure :-)
Over $10 billion in the bank now. Best sales ever. Apple is doing very well and is very strong.

We'll probably see market share number in a few weeks. It's still likely below 5% in the US, but increased over previous quarters. The numbers will be lower worldwide.

The market share is almost certainly not greatly changed.

It closed at $74.53, but went up to $78.90 in after hours trading.
Globe and Mail: Apple's Intel gamble pays off as Mac shipments hit record
The results surprised analysts, who had expected flat profit and sales in the three months ended in September.
The company's shares climbed in after-hours trading, rising as high as 4.5 per cent or $77.86 after closing yesterday at $74.53 on the Nasdaq Stock Market.
The only relatively sluggish area of Apple's business appears to be iTunes, even though it dominates on-line music sales.
Revenue in that division was $452-million in the quarter, down 1 per cent from a year earlier.

AI: Apple's share of U.S. PC market jumps to 6.1 percent
Apple had an impressive showing in the US:
1) Dell: 32.1%
2) HP: 23%
3) Gateway: 6.4%
4) Apple: 6.1%
5) Toshiba: 5.1%
However, as expected, it did not make the top 5 worldwide.

I just spoke with a former boss of mine, who lives in Austria now. When I worked for him, he was always giving me static for being the lone Mac guy in our group. Yesterday, he called me from overseas to tell me he just got... a Mac.
He told me, in his thick Austrian accent, "well, I drank the Kool-Aid and bought a MacBook Pro."

Acer didn't make the top 5 in the US. They are #4 worldwide though.
IBM doesn't sell PCs, so their market share would be 0.
This number is desktops and laptops combined.

This category also includes iPod accessories. It declined because Apple purposely depleted inventory of older accessories before the new iPods and updated accessories were released in Sept. according to Apple's financial conference call today.

Heh. I thought AAPL would hit well over $78 for sure, but now it's over $79.50. That's up 5% since yesterday's close.
Will it hit $80 (again) this week?

Has anyone ever wondered how large Apple's market share can grow before it other manufacturers of Mac-based computers begin popping up? Let's say Apple one day achieves a 25% market share. At that point, can anyone imagine there being no competition to temper prices?

There can't be any competitors, Apple doesn't license Mac OS.
