Toys'R'Us. Because it's the only international chain I could spot there (at least that are in Australia).

Crate & Barrel - Kitchen, bedroom & bath
Home Depot - Garden, landscaping, hardware, electrical & home improvement
Liquor Barn - Booze
Macy's - Department store
Office Depot - Office supply
Tower Records - CD's & DVD's
Toys R Us - Toys
Waldenbooks - Books

Macy's. I'm straight as an arrow, but I like nice clothes...and I need some.

Do you really feel the need to defend your sexuality when stating that you like something that <gasp> a gay man may also enjoy? Relax, friend. No one gives a f*ck if you like boys or girls.

Well at the moment i'd say the electronics/photo store. I need a new receiver and an extra lense or two for my camera.

I'll state the obvious since we're posting on forum that discusses apple products why the exclusion of the apple store?

Since the original list is lacking here's my list in no particular order
Apple Store - yes if I had 2k to spend it would be there.
Babies-r-us/toys-r-us having twin babies make these places a must.
Best Buy - home electronics 'nuff said
Home Depot - tools/home improvement.

well, since Banana Republic isn't on the list, i'll go with C & B.

So is Apple, that's why Apple didn't make it to the list.

Since I just moved (yesterday) - Home Depot would be the obvious choice...

As nice of a house I think it is... there's still some work that needs to be done. Carpets replaced, hardwood resanded/replaced, and perhaps an upgrade to one of the bathrooms....

2k ain't gonna cover it... but it will definitely help.

Circuit City (extrapolating "electronics" to mean Fona here in DK). I'd use the $2,000 to buy a Mac there (and thus circumventing the "not the Apple Store" part)

My problems with most of them:

Auto Zone - $2K at auto zone! I think I've spend $200 in the last 3 years there...
Big 5 Sporting Goods - No thinks... I'm not a hunter, and $2K is WAY too much to burn there.
Cabela's - See Above
Circuit City - This is the only one I would like. Not because I love CC, but because I could actually buy something I wanted.
Crate & Barrel - I could see where some people would like this.
Home Depot - I rent... perhaps when I own a home.
Liquor Barn - I don't drink that much in many years.
Macy's - This is also not that bad. A wardrobe makeover would be nice.
Office Depot - I would rather have many of the other suggestions. They don't have high end stuff.
Tower Records - I don't buy that much music. And I find their stuff overpriced.
Toys R Us - No kids... and I'm not a gamer.
Waldenbooks - I like books, but not $2K in books!

I had to go with the Liquor Barn. Give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire!

Our current signature rules give you two options:

1. an image (200x50px max, 10KB max, non-animated) and up to one line of text, OR
2. no image, and up to four lines of text.

In either case, blank lines do count, and lines must be of reasonable length so they don't wrap on most screens (think 900px browser window width). Text should not be larger than the default size (no use of the SIZE tag).

home depot. we have a bathroom and a kitchen that need remodeling.

if we needed furniture Crate and barrel, but we don't really.

circuit city is a last... because anything we'd buy there we wouldn't really NEED, it would be upgrading perfectly good stuff or buying a whole lotta DVDs.

I'd really prefer Target. Or Sears. A store that has it all. Kid grows out of clothes like you wouldn't believe. And we need a new microwave.

I might actually go with Liquor Barn to get my wine collection started.

I keep reading "Home Depot" as "Home Despot". Like they sell stroppy wives in there or something.

I guess I'd prefer the certificate from a guitar store. Preferably Warmoth. $2,000 would just about cover a nice new strat.

I used to drive by a Home Depot at night a lot, and sometimes the lights in their logo would go out individually. For a while it was 'Ho Depot'

No, the O.P. knows that many (most?) of you are so Mac-enchanted that the thread would lose ANY reasonable hope of learning where your priorities lie if the Apple Store was included.

We KNOW you'd rather spend $2,000 at the Apple Store.

That's why it's not on the list, just as grocery stores or Target/Kmart/WalMart/Sam's Club stores were not included.

The CATEGORIES were what was important.

Gotta go with Circuit City first just for all the little gadgets you could get with $2000. AutoZone would be after that for me.
