I was bored, and the newscientist site linked to an IQ test so I took it.

I normally laugh at people that put any weight into these things. So, in the interests of giving you guys a good laugh here's my results:

Either attack my results, attack IQ tests in general, or post your IQ test results here.

Here's the test link: Tickle: Tests, Matchmaking and Social Networking

But above all things, have fun.

BTW: they are of course trying to sell correspondence school classes. You've been warned.

Meh.
Your IQ score is 135

This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.

Your Intellectual Type is Visionary Philosopher. This means you are highly intelligent and have a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a variety of different ways. Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others — and at anticipating and predicting patterns. And that's just some of what we know about you from your IQ results.

It won't help your score to get all the answers right - in fact, I think you already did get them all right.

I answered them all correctly - yet my score was less than yours because of my age. Older folks seem to be at a disadvantage on this test.

The Classic IQ Test
What's Your IQ?

Congratulations, Lennon!
Your IQ score is 122

This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.

Your Intellectual Type is Word Warrior. This means you have exceptional verbal skills. You can easily make sense of complex issues and take an unusually creative approach to solving problems. Your strengths also make you a visionary. Even without trying you're able to come up with lots of new and creative ideas. And that's just a small part of what we know about you from your test results.

I didn’t get the one about Jack liking 400, but not 300, etc. I couldn’t figure out the common denominator for those three numbers, so I just chose 1,000, ’cause that seemed to fit best somehow...

Anyways...

Edit: Yeah, I second Andy8’s assessment: Online and language-based.

Double edit: How dare this thing title Railroader a linguist and call me a bleedin’ philosopher?!? Not fair!

Hmm. Know I've taken this before... My wife likes to joke about her IQ being higher than mine, because I've never taken a real IQ test and don't intend to.
Your IQ score is 136

This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.

Your Intellectual Type is Visual Mathematician. This means you are gifted at spotting patterns — both in pictures and in numbers. These talents combined with your overall high intelligence make you good at understanding the big picture, which is why people trust your instincts and turn to you for direction — especially in the workplace. And that's just some of what we know about you from your test results.

I think the Jack likes 400 but not 300 was just another question about perfect squares (400, 100, 3600 are liked, 300, 99, and 3700 are not liked).

That's what that was... I didn't see that at all.

My wife said the same thing.

I don't have very much background on IQ tests, and I place very little value in them because personally. I'd rather have a hard working average intelligence person than a super intelligent lazy person. But perhaps that's just the lower IQ part of me talking.

135, Precision Processor. But I suspect I must have lost at least 10 IQ points looking at all those ads.

If 144 is the highest possible score, then they're probably using a standard deviation of 15 points. Don't most IQ tests use a 20-point standard deviation?

15 usually, but different tests and countries have different traditions. The highest possible score doesn't tell you what the standard deviation is though.

(BTW, in case it isn't really, really obvious from looking at the scores, this isn't a valid IQ test anyway. These things are just meant to make people feel smart so they buy whatever they're selling.)

Congratulations, BRussell!
Your IQ score is 46.

This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.

Your Intellectual Type is Moron. This means you are really, really stupid and it would be best if you spent most of your time posting on the internet. Like George W. Bush, you have been able to mask your intellectual vacuousity and incuriousness with a false affability that masks deep resentment towards your fellow humans, which will almost certainly eventually result in the stubborn pursuit of violence.

That test is an entertainment website that contains ads, just like the entire rest of the internet. Get over it.

if your IQ is 143, then everyone who posted theirs already needs to multiply their score by 2
