Every year a personal aircraft has to be inspected.
You have to open it up and perform maintenance. And inspect the airframe.
I can perform the work under the supervision of an aircraft mechanic.
Which my uncle is.
But the inspection is performed by an aircraft inspector.
So I pay the inspector $200 to tell me what needs to be fixed.
Total bill this year: $2. For a burned out light bulb.

Oiling the tailfeathers.

Pulleys and cables need oil.

A shot looking through the tail.

Interior almost all out. Inspect wing bolts and pullies.

The propeller has to come off to inspect the crankshaft.
All men are created equal, but what they do after that point puts them on a sliding scale.

Why don't people need to undergo the same level of care for their vehicles. It seems that far too many cars on the road are held together with duck tape and the like.

see, when a car breaks down it usually just stops... when a plane breaks down it falls out of the sky...

Most states have a safety inspection. it tends to be conducted at the same time as an emissions inspection.

Lights, wipers, tires, brakes, horn, are all inspected.

Surely his $2 brake light will prevent him from falling out of the sky.

I'm joking of course, but with planes that size the amount of people that can be killed in an accident is similar to that of a car accident.

Anyway, I didn't mean to derail (or deplane). Thanks for the pics captain.

In Israel all cars are subject to such inspections- brakes, engine, etc

They are the exception to every rule. I have a pic standing in front of a car that managed to flip itself over after driving over a road hump.

In Germany they have the TUV.
It's almost as tough as the FAA aircraft inspection.

I take really great care of my Beech.
I perform routine maintenance on it monthly.
The rotating beacon light must have just burned.(there's 2 bulbs in it actually)
Only one is burned out.

The passanger planes I fly have a different inspection schedule.
And Since I'm ATP, I get to fly the ATR-72s solo to maintenance.
The CRJ requires a co-pilot.
