I suppose it's one thing to have one in the back for the kids or something, but I saw something tonight that was a first for me. I saw a pickup truck with a TV below the rearview mirror. It wasn't an extended cab or anything, so it must have been for those in the front seat. As is normal for me when I see a TV in someone else's vehicle, I tried to figure out what was being watched. I got my chance at a stoplight - it was porn! On top of that, there was only one person in the vehicle, so it was clearly the driver watching it (or listening to the fine soundtrack).

I will settle for a good stereo in my car.
This needs a poll.

Watching porn in a car on the road where others can see it out side of the car is illegal in a few areas around here.
We have a LCD hooked up to a DVD player for the kids that came factory installed in our mini-van. 99% of the time if it is on it is playing a Veggie Tales video. If I see them not paying attention I'll turn it off and they have no problems with that.
The way most cars are now most kids can't see out the windows because the sill is so high.

Hmm... I don't own a TV or a car to put my non-existant TV into.

Not yet but our twins are only 10 months old. Our mini-van will be outfitted with one in the short term. I'm not sure if I'll just get a portable unit to use in there and take with us or one that is installed in the ceiling. both have their pros and cons.

I hate to sound like a Ludite but we listen to books on CD. It's a break from the same old DVDs. We've listened our way through a lot of great books. And the driver can listen too without risk of serious accident.
I remember being next to an RV on route 95 last year for a while with the PowerPuff Girls going on. There were commercials and everything. I was wondering if they had some kind of mobile cable or satelite.

I have a projection TV mounted on my dash so that my favorite movies are superimposed onto my windshield while I'm driving. I'm thinking of getting a game console installed too, with the controller mounted on the steering wheel.

Having one below the rear-view mirror or on the dashboard isn't?

TV in the car? Like people need yet another thing to do instead of paying attention to their driving? I think not! Not in my car, certainly!
Driving is a very visual task. So is watching anything on a video screen. They don't mix. In a lot of places it is illegal to have a screen that is not dedicated to navigation or vehicle operation anywhere that the driver can see it. I think this is a Good Thing® and something that should become much more widespread.

Perhaps I distracted everyone with the question in the title of the post. I was really posting to say that I saw a vehicle in which it was the *driver* that was watching the screen and it was *porn* that was being watched. I really don't want to be anywhere near that vehicle on the road.

My wife's minivan (Honda Odyssey) has a DVD player & LCD for the kids in the back seat, and the screen of the dashboard GPS displays a rear-view camera image when the car is in reverse.
Alas, no movies for the front passenger.

Pretty sure in most states it's the law that movies can only play on a front-seat dvd player when the car is in park. I think pretty much all of the commercial units require that input too.
This was in the news a few years ago: Sex flicks road risk: Porn distracts driver, Daily News, April 18, 2004 - I like that they mention the name of the movie was "Chocolate Foam."

All the DVD players in front dash of cars ONLY work when the parking brake is active. HOWEVER... they can be you can have a 'switch' installed to bypass this 'feature'. I know because I have one on mine.

I was in Long Island on business a few years ago and there was an Escalade with multiple screens in the back seat with porn on. It was maybe 7pm and it caught us all by surprise.
