Victim's cousin charged with tattooing killer - CNN.com

"COLUMBUS, Indiana (AP) -- An inmate accused of forcibly tattooing a slain 10-year-old girl's name onto her killer's forehead in an Indiana prison was the victim's cousin, a family friend said.

Jared Harris, 22, is a cousin of Katlyn "Katie" Collman, family friend and spokesman Terry Gray told The Republic newspaper. He said he did not believe they knew each other well.

Harris, 22, who is serving time on a burglary conviction at Wabash Valley state prison in Carlisle, has been charged with battery and accused of tattooing "KATIE'S REVENGE" across Anthony Ray Stockelman's forehead.

Harris told prison officials the attack was in revenge, according to an affidavit.

Stockelman is serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to abducting, molesting and killing the fourth-grader, who lived about 70 miles south of Indianapolis. She was missing for five days before her body was found January 30, 2005, in a creek about 15 miles from her home.

The affidavit said that prison officials transferred Harris to the same prison wing as Stockelman on September 19, three days before the attack, and that Harris subsequently threatened Stockelman's life several times.

Harris slipped into the open cell Stockelman shared with another prisoner on September 22 and, when Stockelman returned, Harris closed the locking cell door, according to the affidavit.

Stockelman told investigators that Harris put his right hand around his throat and told him, "I'm either gonna stick you and leave you bleeding or I'm gonna tattoo you." After applying the tattoo, Harris discarded the tattoo gun in a prison trash can, he told investigators.

It was unclear how he had gotten the tattoo gun."

Check out the picture in the link. I thought that this was pretty damn funny. Personally I would've tattooed something a bit more harsh onto his face.

The one thing I cannot stand in this world is child molesters. If I had my way, I'd kill every last one of them as inhumanly as possible.

It'll be your tax dollars that'll pay for the laser treatment to remove the tattoo. Also he'll get a good chunk of your money when he sues. So I guess he ends up better off for it.

That is, unless he's killed in prison before the trials. Lets all hope for that.

And he won't be getting any money from suing the inmate that did it to him. You think he has money? LOL

Does he really have a case against the local/fedaral government? I suspect that prison abuse occurs frequently. Are inmates constantly suing the government? Isn't it the fault of the inmates, rather than the gov't. just wondering.

From an earlier article that I read when this first happened guards were thought to be involved. So suing the prison authorities may be possible. They are responsible for an inmates protection.

Not that I condone what this slime ball did. I wonder why they were so soft on him...I mean they could have easily poked his eyes out along with the tattoo.

Inmates frequently sue the government (deservedly or not). They know the government has deep pockets do their best to get what they can.

Our entire justice system is build on the idea of just that - justice and punishment. Retribution, which is what you're asking for, is something entirely different. The main problem with retribution is that you are immediately losing the moral authority.

A life sentence doesn't mean sh*t. He'll be out in 15-20 years, or escape (it happens often), and molest/kill another little girl.

We need to remove these predators from society before they can strike again. We need to kill them.

Opinions like the above scare and disgust me almost as much as child predators do.

Trying to remove humanity from anybody is an inhuman thing to do.

It's amazing what you can get in prison. My girlfriend's cousin is in medium security prison for assault and battery on a drug user that tried to rob him. He got tattoos with a modified CD player motor and needle. He also got "the hole" for a couple months for that. They are nice tattoos, too. "One life" on one arm and "One love" on the other.

Staying on topic. Child molesters are the worst, though. He deserves worse and, if karma exists, will get it eventually.

The main problem with your argument is that there are a great number of innocent people who are convicted of terrible crimes. This happens for all sorts of reasons, but the fact is it happens. There have been innocent people executed, imprisoned for decades, etc only to find out later that they were wrongly convicted.

I'm not even suggesting that the guy in the story might be innocent, but blanketly executing everyone who is merely convicted is a bad thing to do. That is, until our justice system becomes flawless, which will never happen.

I'm not talking about situations where there's doubt regarding a person's guilt. I'm not laying out a blanket statement about all killers, date-rapists, and pedophiles. I know a person can make a mistake and can become a better person. What I am saying, is that known habitual child molesters, serial killers, and serial rapists need to be executed.

We have tens of thousands of such people in our criminal justice system, many of whom spend 10-20 years in prison and are then released on a society incapable of handling their merciless desires.

Kill them and protect future innocent victims.
