ik bought a pair of nike air max 5 months ago for 140 euro's.

I am not too happy about them, they start to break up after using them in normal conditions. The sole of the right one is already cracking up. they look like hobo shoes.

and they stink. how can i kill stinky shoes? do i wash them in the laundromat in really hot water (90 degrees) ?

First of all, no hot water.

Cold water. Take out the insoles and laces first.

DO not dry in the dryer. Pack them with newspaper and check in a few hours and remove wet newspaper and replace with dry.

The fact that the soles are breaking up is bad. I would take them to a nike reseller or phone the company and ask what they intend to do about it, as you believe it to be manufacturer defect in materials.

I think that is why Nike invented the Shox shoes...soles with holes already in them.

I looked at a pair of those recently. They're $160 here and they are insanely overpriced--what justifies that price? They are made of the same materials as cheaper shoes and I couldn't find any platinum bullion sewn anywhere in the shoe. They look cool though.

At that price you should definately take them back if you have the receipt.

I've worn shox for the past two years and have loved them, the first pair lasted nearly 18 months of constant abuse, and the newer pair look like holding up just as well.

Try a pair of New Balance shoes if durability is what you want.

Nike shoes aren't meant to be worn everyday. Instead, you're supposed to have at least 14 different pairs in continuous rotation.

I don't wear shoes that have more than one color on them. Looks goofy.

As far as durability goes, in my experience nothing has beaten Sketchers. I have a pair of hiking boots that have lasted me probably about 8 years now. I've done just about everything you can imagine in them. They are rock solid. The other pairs of Sketchers I've owned are also on par with that.

Nike's on the other hand... not so durable. They do fall apart, some last longer than others, but mostly they fall apart. But like Spliff said, Nike's are meant to be worn while running, playing ball, hiking, etc. They aren't meant to be worn every day.

But, Nike does have good customer service (or at least they used to). I'm willing to bet if you take them to a Niketown or send them in they will replace them for you. They used to do that sort of thing.

Word. Made in america, too.

I don't know that anyone actually runs in air maxs. They're definitely riding that "fashion athletic" line.

Get some small-soled Puma Future Cats and drive a car to your destination. You'll get there faster, and be able to manipulate the pedals with ease.

New Balance shoes are the worst ever fitting shoe that I have tried on. I could lace them as tight as they would go and then just slide them past my heel and off my foot. And yes, I tried on more than one pair.

The last several pairs of running shoes I bought, before my knees got screwed up, were the Coach Bowerman series from Nike. Best shoes I've ever worn. I'm not too sure if those Air Max are part of that line up, but you should check them out.

No! It's spreading to Europe.

I blame Doofy.

I'll never buy another pair of nike shoes again. the last pair I had lasted about 3 months whereas my new balance shoes last 3 years (not an exaggeration) even though they look like they've been through hell...

Reallllllyy....

and

I'm liking the black ones better, size 10. Any other combination ends up looking like pricey bowling shoes. Take that back to the gf if you like.

My (unsolicited) opinion on your design is that the colors are too bright and too different. And my opinion of the options is that they make it easy to screw it up and harder to get it right.

I wish they had a color pallete and suede like børn shoes or skechers for the iD shoes.

I've been shoe shopping a lot lately, and I'm getting tempted to start a shoe review site for the non-runner. But that's me being curmudgeonly.

Your gf needs to take tighter creative control. The green and black and the red / yellow / blue combinations are hideous.

Those are some nice looking shoes, but I'm pretty sure they won't look as good as my 3 year old pair of New Balance. These babies have survived thousands of hours of abuse. From roofing and plumbing and drywall to a night on the town with the girlfriend at the most prestigious dining establishments. There's no place these shoes can't go.

Keep your delicate tri-color neon footwear - I'll be making a fashion statement with my understated black-on-black New Balance 445's.
