I got an iTunes gift card for my birthday last week and was looking into ways to spend it. I thought, "Hey, I'll go get some of those albums I have on tape that I really would like to have again."

So I decided to get Public Enemy's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. One of the best (if not the best), hip-hop albums ever. I had the CD once upon a time, but it's gone missing.

To my disappointment, iTMS doesn't have the entire album, so I'd have to buy each track one at a time. Plus, it's missing a track, "Terminator X to the Edge of Panic." So listening to it, there would be a big fat hole in the middle. And to someone who has heard the album hundreds of times, it would be weird.

On top of that, iTMS doesn't even have Fear of a Black Planet. Luckily, I found my CD. But the default iTMS art for it is wrong, too.

I guess I'm just going to buy the whole CD on Amazon or something and find something else to download on iTMS.

Some record labels are afraid that they won't make money off of iTunes, or rather 'enough' money, so they force you to go out and buy their $17 CD anyway.

Might have something to do with the rights to the samples used in one or two of the tracks. My guess anyway.

Saw P.E. in concert last night with X-Clan and the BaNNed. It was great.

Got to meet Chuck D and Flav afterwards, got my picture taken with Chuck. Really nice guy, genuine and cool.

Not a guess. You're right. This is especially true of artists who create covers of other songs... they have trouble getting the full album onto an online environment because of right's issues.
