i got an aim today from xxxxxxxx@mac.com

i didn't know you could do this.

and next to his name on my buddylist it has a lock for security enabled.

how is this possible? any insite

To use AIM you need either an AOL or .Mac account. Special partnership I guess.
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

iChat uses the AIM network, which also allows .mac users to use AIM without registering an AIM username. .mac users have the option for "Secure iChats" with other .mac users...that's what the lock icon is.
