I have an absolutely random question. I'm gonna have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi ( automatic) for a few days next month and was wondering what a good launch RPM is off of the line. I want some nice wheelspin, but nothing tire-shredding. I won't be traveling over the speed limit, so I just want to know basically the fastest way to 60 going onto the highway.

Well, you'll find that when you hold the brake and step on the gas - the rear tires will roast themselves before the RPM gets to 3000. When you get tired of the smoke, release the brake to move forward.

Most of the available torque should be present at about 3,000 rpm. I'm guessing the truck has decent rear disc brakes which will make wheelspin (via transmission loading - 'powerbrake') while at a standstill more of a challenge.

You should practice a few times in order to figure out the best mix of acceleration and wheelspin. I doubt wheelspin will be a problem. Pickups don't have much weight on the drive axle.

neutral drops and spinning the tires will not increase your 0-60 times... floor it and thats the best you can do as long as you minimize your wheel spin... Top fuel dragsters have very little wheel spin, and they go really fast...
