Damn that was nuts. I wouldn't have pegged Richards to be this way. This bit of video will be the end of his career and possibly hurt DVD sales of Seinfeld.

While that may be true, that doesn't mean that he's a failure (career wise). His Kramer character was probably one of, if not the best sitcom character to date. And he was on the most successful sitcom to date. Thats nothing to scoff at. Creating a character like that, and then trying to do something other than that character is next to impossible.

Definitely. It's like the 'Friends' characters (minus Aniston) trying to do anything after friends. They're kind of locked into those characters and it's hard for people to see them as something different.

I noticed that in interviews with Richards he seemed to get genuinely pissed off when people talked about being wacky and goofy. He always came off as a real jerk to me.

I did think that Richard's comments were "uncalled for", but the other party had no right to complain after they started shouting racial-slurs back at Richards. All they had to do was keep their mouths shut and leave and they would have made their point much stronger.
