good lord man. Have you gone through your bluetooth prefs on the phone? You didn't tell us. So if I say to look in your prefs on your phone for a way to make it discoverable would I be telling you something you already tried? Cause yea, you didn't say. But, luckily for you, I think I found the answer:

(from phonescoop user reviews of the c417)

...My biggest disappointments so far? The included bluetooth doesn't support file transfers, only headsets and hand-free kits. Why Samsung would go to all the trouble to put in bluetooth hardware (antenna, support chip, etc) and then not throw in a bit of software to allow you to sychronize/backup your contacts with your PC via bluetooth is beyond me.

-------------------

....The phone does have bluetooth, however it only supports handsfree profiles. No file swapping or tethering with this bad boy.

-------------------

....CONS: Bluetooth connection is horrible. I'm lucky if it connects to my bluetooth headset. It's very frustrating to have to redo it over and over until it connects to my headset. My other phones have seamless connection with my headset, so I know it's the C417 malfunctioning.

-------------------

Bluetooth Supported Profiles: HSP, HFP
version 2.0

so yea, luckily... it's not you being retarded, your phone just kinda sucks. Return it and get a phone that'll do more. Happy Thanksgiving!

BluePhoneElite.

Probably not without the proper profiles being supported though.
