Watch out for the new (racist?) Rolling Rock beer commercial!

Just watched it on SNL.

A fictionalized spokesman or Exec. for Rolling Rock issues a fake on-air apology for using an Ape in a fictionalized TV spot. The Ape parachuted down into a pool party setting and supposedly people took issue with the use of an Ape.

The exec showed a graph that indicated that the Ape is a much funnier animal than a dog or rat or something else.

He closes by expressing regret over their lapse in judgment.

There WAS no racist remark. There was no racist commercial. Nothing about an Ape should be offensive to any race or group as there is no greater connection between any one group of people and Apes than any other group of people.

He ACTED AS IF there had been.

I think it's very clever. But let's see what America's reaction is.

Maybe none.

Maybe they'll think it 'meh.'

I agree. My "?" was from the anticipation of the public's reaction. Let's all spread your sentiment.

Sounds to me like they're just copying the Geico caveman commercials.

"One ticket to Washington, please. I have a date with destiny."

The dynamic is the same but it feels different somehow.
