I haven't sent one in at least 3 years. My handwriting has deteriorated significantly, also, because I got too used to sending short electronic messages I have lost confidence in my correct usage of ë, è, é..

I always write thank-you notes by hand. But that’s about it.

It's been several months for me. I have a few friends that are in situations where they just can't receive email. I don't write as often as I should though. I think the hand-written letter has lost it's value as quicker and quicker communication has taken it's place:

first the letter was replaced by the telegraph,
then the telephone,
then the email,
then the IM...

I think it will grow from there. I'm not sure where though...

..But people really appreciate handwritten letters. maybe emails and IM are just too easy to send.

dot dot dot ENTER

I also have friends in Thailand, Sri Lanka, who don't have daily access to the internet. It's easy to send them a txt by cellular but it's a horribly decayed form of communication. Actually I like to put some effort in a letter. I find some handwritten letters really personal belongings to read again some time, some people have beautiful handwriting, especially the elder. A letter holds lots of possibilities to show your mood, without having to resort to a smilie.

The other day actually, thank you cards for my birthday gifts. I also send handwritten letters those that purchase things from me off eBay.

It's been a LONG time. My handwriting tends to be "doctorish" and my composition skills are MUCH improved through editing. The last handwritten letter I sent, I composed on a computer first-it was important.

I do handwrite cards and notes, but full letters? Nope. I don't have time-and it's not a 'email is so much faster' issue. It's an "I don't have time to properly blow my nose sometimes" school-related issue.

I've been using a keyboard so long I've actually lost the ability to use a pen properly. I mean, I can scrawl some stuff using a pen but five minutes later even I wouldn't be able to decipher what it says.

Does signing my name on a check count as a letter? It took me longer to find an envelope and stamps than anything else. As with others, I still send handwritten notes as thank yous and for birthdays, but not much else.

At camp I always remember writing letters to my grandmother though. That was years ago.
