Accroding to this, the over half a million gamers are playing the new Zelda, for over a week now. Many of them have presumedly finished the game.

Are you, frugal Gamecube owner, still sitting patiently for December whatever for the GC version, or have you been strongarmed to upgrade your GC?

I'll second this. The new control scheme really works beautifully with the game.

If I can get a Wii before Dec. 11, I'll buy that, since it sounds pretty cool anyway. But if not, I'll go ahead and get the GameCube version and buy a Wii whenever I get the chance.

So you bought a Wii? And Zelda? So Nintendo won and you lost. End of all the moaning, right?

Why do you care? Post a hilarious "praying for 3 more pages" graphic and be on your way back to your immersive video game experience on your 13" TV.

Ooooh, sting! Damn right! You lose.

I'll wait a couple more pages before posting it. Thread's off to a good start, though!

"strongarmed" is a bit strong...

GC users should be happy they even bothered offering it for the GC. If I worked for Nintendo, I wouldn't have...

Yeah well, its bad enough they didn't come through on 100 Marios/Mario 128/whatever it was called, so to pull another game that was being promised for the GC would have been even worse...

They've been promising it for GameCube for years. If they had reneged, I'd be really pissed, even though I'd prefer to get the Wii version. It would just look bad.

I'll buy a Wii sometime early next year. I can't justify spending the money on a console right now. Too many crazy expenses, and then Xmas is coming up.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

To be honest though as the stage I am currently at with Zelda if i had the choice I would prefer Amazing Visuals, audio and proper cut scenes over the Wii controls.

Just to clarify, Twilight Princess isn't near to hitting the limits of the Wii. The Wii isn't as powerful as the Xbox 360, but it is easily more powerful than the GameCube or even the Xbox. And Twilight Princess is still basically a GameCube game.

Twilight Princess is BEAUTIFUL. Who cares if it doesn't have any of shaders, higher polygon count, etc etc.

I'm a happy owner of both Wii and 360. I don't give a flying f*ck if Wii doesn't have 10 millions polygon per sec. It's beautiful, let's leave it at that.

Gamecube 480p
Xbox 1: 1080i
Wii: 480p

So where is that "Easily more powerful than an Xbox" part show?

Yes it is as I also mentioned. Problem is everything is a complete blur that with 20/20 vision I can't spot archers on a 50" TV.

My bigger problem is not with the polygons but the dated gameplay and text boxes. Now I know you are used to reading subtitles but almost everyone else rather not.

You've just done the equivalent of saying that a Core Duo iMac is no more powerful than a G5 iMac simply because they output the same resolution.

Bad analogy. These are specific systems.

Plus I gave you the opportunity to explain what the extra horsepower is used for but you didn't answer.

Lets see, is it used for 5.1 sound output? Nope.

Is it used for higher resolutions? Nope.

Better game Textures. Haven't seen it yet

Better AI. Haven't seen it yet

What is left? 300MHz of extra fun?

Nothing right now because it's a Gamecube port?

Oh c'mon. Just because a system supports 5.1 doesn't mean the games do. And a lot of games don't support 5.1 at all. Same goes for HD.

And I suppose before HD, game companies liked putting more horsepower in their systems just to blow out more hot air?

You own a Wii version of a Gamecube game. Case closed.

I think we should either confine these kinds of discussions to the Wii thread or (preferably) just let them die. We've already had this particular argument several times before.

If you read any interviews with Shigeru Miyamoto, he clearly states that they had the option of significantly improving the graphics, and instead focused on getting the controls right.

No i am not talking about Zelda. I mean NO GAME will support 5.1 audio or higher res graphics.

So again. Where will this "more powerful than an Xbox 1" show itself?

Actual number-crunching abilities. It's possible to display huge-resolution images without actually being any good for playing video games. Now that I look, I can't find an actual source for info on the GPU, so maybe I was thinking of rumors. But the Xbox's GPU wasn't much more than a standard PC GPU at the time, so even if the Wii is using an El Cheapo modern GPU, it should be better.

That is the question though... "Better" how? In what way can the extra power be used? Is all the extra power going to interpreting the motion controls?
