I ordered AppleCare with my MacBook, but didn't get a box or anything. I thought it was supposed to come with TechTool Deluxe and a few papers in a big red box. Maybe I'm wrong?

mine came about 3 weeks after my macbook C2D arrived. came in a USPS brownish/yellowish blister pak from Applecare in Austin Texas.

it contained a letter, the agreement and the techtool dvd (or cd, don't have it in front of me).

Hmm ... that's really odd. Did Apple give you a tracking number for it? Or did it just show up quietly?

Just showed up; I thought it would have come with the computer too. It didn't have a tracking number; but it always showed as "shipped" the day after I ordered it the laptop and applecare online.

We've had the same thing happen at work. The packet with Techtool and stuff will show up a week or two after the computer does.

i wouldn't worry too much about the CD in the box, it doesn't work with the Intel Macs*. You have to setup the AppleCare with your enrollment number then download the latest disk image.

*as of last week, it should change soon.

Your computer came from China, (I'm guessing), and the applecare is shipped from a local distro center. Should arrive later. You can check your warranty status at the apple.com/support page with your serial number.

If you noticed when you custom ordered your MacBook, the AppleCare item is done via auto-enroll. So your computer is automatically added to AppleCare when you bought it. You'll get a package later with a certificate proving it. In the meantime, you can verify it on the support site with the serial number.

Interpretation: it takes longer to get something from a few hundred miles away than it does from the other side of the world.

The only Mac I haven't had come from China was my Mac Mini back in 2005. It was a stock model, I'm guessing that's why.

Thanks for the help guys!

Sad, but sometimes true.
